Are these designer papers not the cutest you've ever seen? They are from MME, their Tres' Jolie line, new this spring. When I take in all the beautiful colors, I think "orange sherbert"! Yummy!
You know, once I get myself started on these square cards, I can't seem to stop! Yesterday's card got me going on them again, so today's sketch is, you guessed it.....square. The MME papers translate perfectly into a baby card, so that's the direction I took. Making a baby card also gave me permission to use my new Bundle of Joy set again from SU.
I started off with a piece of Apricot Appeal (a new color for me) cut into a 4.75x4.75 inch square. Next, I cut the striped designer paper 4.5x4.5 and matted it with Certainly Celery cardstock. It matches the designer paper perfectly! Then I took the coordinating polka dot paper and matted 2 strips of it on a piece of CC cardstock, and then used my decorative scissors to cut a narrow border. I laid one of these polka dot strips horizontally and one vertically.
The sentiment is stamped on a large oval punch which was then matted on CC and cut out with my decorative mini scallop scissors (I love these small scallops, so dainty!). It's adhered to the front of the card with foam tape to make it pop. I painted Mr. Teddy (isn't he adorable?) with my aqua painter and a mixture of Perfect In Pink, Rose Red and So Saffron inks. He was cut out and then placed on the front of the card with foam tape as well.
The other day, I was lucky enough to discover the Sakura Gelly Roll pen in Crystal (I think that's what it's called, I threw the wrapper away), but oh, let me tell you, it adds just the perfect amount of sparkle to your cards! I know I'm a little bit behind the times with these Gelly Roll pens, but jeepers, I love them! I wanted to make Mr. Teddy shine a little on the front of the card, but I didn't think the Gelly Roll pen added quite enough sparkle to do him justice. Instead, I used another new metallic marker I got on Thursday night from my friend Ann, who's the owner of the scrapbook store I teach classes at here in my hometown (the name of the store is Memory Creek and is in Farmington, MN. If you live near me, you've got to go, her store is amazing!).

Anyways, the markers are by American Crafts and are called "Glitter Markers". Ladies, let me tell you, this is pure glittah, and looks gorgeous on your cards! I used it to highlight around Mr. Teddy's body, and he looks mahhhhvolous! If you click on the card photo it will take you to a bigger view of the card, and you should be able to see the glitter then! This marker is definitely a must buy!!! They give the ultimate bling, go get one today! You will not regret it
I want to take a minute to congratulate my blog friend Michelle Giraurd for being named one of the newest Dirty Girls on SCS today! Congratulations Michelle! Have a wonderful Sunday. It's going to be gorgeous here in MN today, so I'm hoping to spend some time outside getting the yard picked up. We also have a baseball parents meeting at our house late this afternoon because my hubby is the coach of my son's traveling baseball team. First time ever. Should be an interesting adventure!
Another awesome sketch and the card is super cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sketch! I could have used it about an hour ago when I was struggling in my stamp room. I was on a square card kick today too. Congratulations to Michelle - what a great honor. Off to look at the DD gallery.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous layout and paper! Guess what...I bought the same paper (like one sheet of every Tres Jolie paper Scrapbook Heaven had) when I was back in San Antonio! Oh...I so have to play!
ReplyDeleteCrazy to think you just started making square cards. You are cranking them out one more gorgeous then the next.
I love Michelle's work. she is amazing! Just like you! Hugs
Cute card and great sketch - I'll try to catch up tomorrow! :)
