The first one is the one I like the best. Of course, I'm just partial to pink and brown, so that's why I like it more! I just jumped right into my scrap pile (no, it's not Scrap Stash Saturday!) and picked out a bunch of scraps that had pink as the primary color. Then I stamped each petal a bunch of times on the designer paper with Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink in Dark Brown (the fluid chalk inks work great with acrylics. Much better than the regular ink pads). Then I cut them out and glued them in a circular pattern on a piece of Basic Brown cardstock which had first been stamped with the Canvas background stamp. The center of the flower is cut from my Cuttlebug scallop die and a piece of metallic pink paper.
I struggled a bit with the layout of these petals. They are too big to create one big flower on the front of the card, so the only thing I could think of was to show it as a half flower. Then I struggled with how to put a sentiment on the front of the card! I had just bought a thank you stamp, so I stamped that on a scrap piece of polka dot paper with the fluid chalk ink. Since the flower petals appear as they are hand drawn (their outline), I decided to hand draw straight lines around both the "thank" and the "you" for consistency sake. Finally, with my new Sakura Gelly Roll crystal pen, I outlined all the way around the flower petals and sentiment for a little added "bling"! It's amazing how much this little pen adds to your card!
The second card is the same layout as the brown and pink card, with the exception of how the sentiment is laid out, horizontally rather than vertically and different colors. The flower petals are laid in formation on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock first stamped with the Canvas background in Memories Die ink in Sand color.
Overall, I like the cards. I need to come up with some unique ways to use these new stamps though. I will get bored with them really fast if this is the only design I can come up. What a great challenge for myself!
I hope you all have a great day today! I am heading out for a morning walk! It's beautiful right now, so it will be a perfect walk, me, my ipod, and my dog!
Then it's a day filled with errands, most importantly, making sure our taxes get in a USPS mailbox!!
I LOVE THESE TWO CARDS! I think these have been some of my favorites of all you have shared with us, Amy. Awesome. Thanks!

Amy, what great cards. I really like this layout. (and the colors are fab!)
ReplyDeleteHave a good walk.
I love both of your cards! Very nice! Lucky you, having nice weather! Enjoy your walk!
ReplyDeleteLove the cards and how you used different patterned paper for each petal. What about placing the flower bottom left of the card like a sunburst from the corner and then have a larger sentiment across the top or heavy top right?
ReplyDeleteI love those stamps and the way you stamped on your scrap paper. You always make such beautiful creations!
ReplyDeleteLove these cards! You make me say "I have to have that stamp!!" So, shame on you! Keep using up those scraps!
