Scrap Stash Saturday!

Get rid of those scraps!!! That's the mantra of the day, ok? If you're anything like me, you've got a wealth of beautiful designer paper scraps that are just wasting away in a drawer or file. But I'm being honest when I tell you that every time you make a card, you can dig into your scrap pile! You don't have to mat an image ONLY with a piece of cardstock! Search the scrap pile for a scrap of designer paper that compliments your color pallate and use that as your mat! Use a scrap of designer paper as a "faux" ribbon. Use a scrap piece of designer paper for just the shot of color your card was needing. And in small sizes, mixing and matching patterns is easy! But really, make it a point to use those scraps, ok? It's such a great challenge!

I had fun choosing my scraps for today's card. This is the pile I started out with. I love pushing the envelope when it comes to seeing what I can get away with as far as patterns go. Polka dots, paisley, flowers and plaid! I'm in scrap stash heaven!

I started off with a piece of Really Rust cardstock. It's been a long time since I used this color cardstock. It reminds me more of fall, but it was perfect with the designer scraps I picked out for today. When I put the cards together for Scrap Stash Saturdays, I kinda just go with the flow. I usually don't have any ideas in my head for what I want the card to look like. I just start laying the paper down and do that until I find something I like. You'll notice that the mat for the Hero Arts leaf image is a piece of the plaid paper from MME that I used on yesterday's card. I am in LOVE with this paper! It's perfect to surround the leaf image, which I painted with my aqua painter in Old Olive ink, and Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink in Burnt Sienna. I attached the image to the mat with foam tape for a dimensional look to the card.

I still needed to get the aqua floral designer paper onto the card somehow, so I decided to mat the sentiment with it for an additional punch of color in the top right quadrant of the card. This morning, I brought my sewing machine down to my studio so I can sew on my cards whenever I want to now! Sewing on this card was the perfect compliment!

The last little detail I added to the card was paper piercing. I just bought the SU mat pack so I could finally do paper piercing on my cards. It was the first time I've ever done this technique! Fun! With the piercing template, it was easy peasy!

Well, I hope you like today's card! It was a fun challenge to put all the patterns together. Will you give it a shot today? Will you delve into your designer scrap pile and put something fun together? If you do, be sure and drop me a line with a link to the card. I'll share some on my blog if you will! Have a great day!

Amy
