You Make My Heart Sing

I love this A Muse sentiment I bought before Christmas. It's perfect to use in combination with an image of a bird, mainly because birds sing, lol!

I'm still on a kick to use up the supplies I have on hand. It seems like this is the major consensus amongst bloggers this year....use up what we already have on hand! I think our economy has finally come to the realization that we don't really need half of what we have stuffed our homes with. Heck, we stampers probably don't really need a 1/3 of what we own, lol! It's really fun to have all the stuff, but do we need it? Probably not. I have so much designer paper that you could probably cover the entire earth with what I have! It's time to use it up, even if it's old and out of style.

The good news is, some things will never go out of style, and one of those things is Basic Gray paper. I think this is last years Valentine's paper, but it might even go back 2 years! I loved it so much then I kept it on hand, just in case I could use it again. So I pulled out some scraps from my scrap drawer and layered a few of them together. To adhere them to the polka dot paper, I simply sewed a curvy border around each piece using my Janome Sew Mini. The bird came from my new SU dies. I love my little birdy. I use him alot. I think I always will. I don't think birds will ever go out of style, do you?

So, are you planning on using up what you've already got on hand this coming year? I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject. I think that's going to be my theme this year....use it up or let it go.....

Hugs,
Amy

  2. Hi Amy- In theory I agree with the use it up idea. I always try to do projects with what I have on hand. My projects are never with current paper, ribbons, etc. The problem is I read blogs. Then I find out about new stuff I just have to have (like a scorepal, nestabilities, copics, etc). So my conclusion is I will try to work with what I have on hand but I am allowed to purchase new tools. I think this is a good compromise, LOL! I enjoy your blog. Thank you for all you share! debb

  4. I couldn't have said it better myself. I decided a couple of weeks ago on my 'word' for 2009 (Ali Edwards idea) and picked out "utilize" because I am going to do just that. Use what I have instead of adding more to the pile. I am in the process of uncovering my space so that I can see it and use it!

  5. Hi, Amy. Yes, I'm with you on using what I have on hand. When I encourage myself to do that--I do find that it can be pretty inspiring, too. Another benefit is that by using what I have on hand, I'm also clearing out the stamp room--and I work better with less clutter.

My friends gifted me with a clip it up for my birthday a couple of months ago. I got it put together and it is amazing how much it holds. That's helped out my stamp room, too :)

  6. i LOVE this card! it's adorable, and so YOU!!

i think using up what you have is the BEST thing we can do to be fiscally responsible right now.

i'm organizing a valentine's day card drive for ronald mcd. house in my area, and i want to use up what i have for this. i'm not that much of a hoarder, though, so my concern is that i might not have enough!

  7. use it up or let it go - I like the way you said that! I have determined to do just that this year. I'm already going through my home, letting go of all that "stuff" that I just HAD to keep for some reason. Suddenly it's not that important & I know others could get better use out of it than me. It's a wonderful feeling to let things go - kind of like a weight has been lifted off the shoulders.

  8. I am trying to use papers in my scrap box. When hubby helped me sort it all before Christmas so we could have the dining room back I was shocked at how many pieces of odd paper I had!

  9. Hi Amy!

Ya know, I would LOVE to use up all that I have, but because I'm a SU demo, I seem to always HAVE to buy a lot of stuff, even if I personally don't like it all that much. This has become a big frustration for me, but I guess it part of being a demo. :)

    Love the card!

  13. That is my motto for the year too! I have a tendency to fret over the financial situation and this is a constructive step that I can take instead of useless worry. I love paper and I could recover the world after you're finished! Thanks for sharing your beautiful work.

I told my daughter in law (you is now addicted to scrapping) to come visit anytime and help me use up the paper! I think its multiplying. Its crazy to keep it just because I love it. We need to share the love. LOL!
