With Sympathy

I am on a roll with the scraps! I got about 5 cards made yesterday and it was fabulous! And I not only used up my scraps, but I made a point of trying to use up all the chipboard I've had laying around for a million years. You know, the chipboard that comes in coordination with certain papers? It's already decorated? I don't use that stuff alot, so it sits around collecting dust. Yesterday I made a point of using some of it on each of the cards I made! Yea me!!! It felt soooo good.

Do you know what else happened yesterday while I was making cards? I wasn't trying to design the most beautiful thing this side of the Mississippi. I wasn't worrying about what layout I would use. I just sort of laid down what I wanted to where I wanted to, without thinking about it very much. I just created. It really felt great, and the cards turned out really fun. I haven't designed like that, so loosely, in such a long time. I hope today turns out the same way. I am playing hooky from church this morning. It was such a crazy stressful week I really needed a day that I didn't have to get up, shower and go. The Hubster is taking the boys in to church so I can stay home and relax. Woo-hoo!

Speaking of the Hubster, here is a picture of he and I on Friday night at our little tailgating soiree before the big game. It's a good thing we had a smile on our face in this shot, because by the end of the game, those smiles were long gone.

That's because we lost...to our arch rivals....and we were so sad when we left. The game was a nail biter to the bitter end, that's the only solace we could take in losing. The boys never gave up. The fans (students) were, for the most part, very well behaved. Except for the football player from our school that jumped on an opposing football player as he was leaving the stadium. Or, for the students from their school that drove through the parking lot screaming words at our marching band that I can't repeat here on my family friendly blog. That was truely disgusting. Why do some students have to behave like this and ruin what for the most part is an extremely friendly rivalry? It just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Well, I start my big new job this coming week. I will be training this week on Tu and Thurs, and then the next week my normal schedule will be M 7a-1p, Th 1p-7p, Fr 1p-5p, and Sat mornings 8-1p. This schedule leaves me time to do my other job, although it will be tough because this time of year is really, really busy for my freelance work. I hope I can make both work! I am a little nervous about starting something new...it's scary entering the real work world again.

Well ladies, I hope you have a great day. Enjoy!

  5. Hi Amy, it's me again :) I just loved your card so much today that I used your sketch to make one of my own (although mine is not near about as eye-catching as yours :) Here's a link if you'd like to take a look http://jcfincher.blogspot.com/2008/11/using-scraps-and-turkeys.html.
Thanks for all the inspiration you give me.

  11. Absolutely lovely card. I wish I can sit down and just create. I always have to have a plan. My brain doesn't work any other way.
Sorry to hear about the game. I know how that is. My HS got it's first "real" cross-town rivalry my senior year. We never did beat them either.
GL with the job. I am sure you will do fine.

Amy your card turned out beautiful!!! I have been recouping from surgery so since I couldn't do anything I took all my cardstock and cut them into card bases, took all my DP and cut them into card tops, my white paper I cut into card inserts then I just stamped out all kinds of images and colored em up. Now, I just grab and assemble, sooooo quick
