This is a distressed card on steroids.
Yep. It has more distressing done to it than even I can fathom, and I made it, lol!
With that said, I do love it. If you can believe it, the layout is from Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch #57 (this week's). It's been months since I was able to participate in one of Julee's Mojo Monday's. It felt really good to have the time and the mojo to get involved. I've really missed being able to do this sort of thing. It's good to be "back", so to speak.
That may explain why I went overboard on the distressing. Too much excitement for one day, I guess, lol. Since this is a birthday card for a guy, I went with fun guy like colors. Blues, rusts, tans. All the paper is from my scrap drawer, which I seriously need to be weeding through in the coming days. It is overflowing. I'm fairly certain all the designer paper is from Basic Grey. Except for the textured basketball-like paper I used under the big main panel. I love this textured paper and it was nice to be able to use it for something other than a sports card! I think it goes perfectly. All edges were distressed with my Heidi Swapp edge distresser and further distressed with Ranger Distress Ink in Walnut.
Still no word on the job front for me. No call with a job offer yet, which makes me nervous. In some good news, we found out the other day that Doug is one of the top 12 candidates for a job in which 200....yes, you read that number right....200 applications were received! Simply amazing. And let me remind you, my husband is in a very specialized field. It amazes me there are that there are even 200 people out there who do what he does! It would be a really cool job, and there's a possiblity he could work from home. Something about this one feels right, but its in God's hands. Man, that seems to be my mantra these days, doesn't it?
Well, I'll keep you posted on the job front. Prayers happily accepted!
Hugs,Amy
I LOVE your man-card!! It's great! What stamp did you use for the image? And the fish??? I just love it...Thanks for sharing...it really is a keeper!! (or a great giver!!!)
ReplyDeleteYou know, you'll look back one of these days & it will be strange to think that you went through all of this! I've done this myself. Remember our BSF study - Moses had to be reminded (how many times?) that he was enabled through God's power... not his own! Blessings on your day, Amy!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, Amy! I love all the distressing and that cool fish! Thanks for playing. Hugs!

Great looking man card! Sometimes those are the hardest ones to do! I don't comment very often, but check your blog every day. :-) You and DH are in my prayers. I hear you with the scrap drawer - mine is do for a good clean out! I'm thinking that I should do it at least twice a year. I figure if I haven't used a scrap in six months, I should pitch it!
ReplyDeleteI love your card! I distress about everything!
