Have You Lost Your Mojo?

Well, I'm relieved to say I think mine is finally on the uptick. Every card is still more difficult to make than before, but maybe not quite so much. What's another option for trying to kick-start the ol' mojo? Participating in Julee's (Poetic Artistry) Mojo Monday card challenge. To be honest, I haven't participated in alot of these lately, but for some reason, this week I thought, "what the heck". It was a relatively easy sketch, so I gave it a try.

This is the sweet little card I came up with. The paper is by Paper Salon. I've had it on hand for a long time now, thinking I wanted to use it with my Paper Trey Green Thumb stamp set. But I have to be honest and tell you that yesterday I couldn't stamp one single image from Green Thumb that looked good! I wanted to stamp the watering can (I did manage to do that ok), but then trying to stamp flowers in the watering can.....IMPOSSIBLE! I have never been able to do it and STILL can't do it. I don't know what it is about that set that makes it so hard.....the stems never stay on the block, and I just can't get anything to look natural when I use it. Other than the strawberry images in Green Thumb, the rest of the images are bust. I wish I didn't have to say that, but me and Green Thumb just don't get along. Not to mention I've lost half of the clear stamps because they don't stick anymore and they fall out of the CD case that I store them in!

Does that happen to anyone else with their clear stamps? I swear, there must be a little land of "Lost and Missing Clear Stamps" living in the carpet beneath my feet! If you are trying to come up with that big "million dollar idea" that will allow you to live comfortably for the rest of your life....focus on creating a clear acrylic stamp that NEVER loses it's stickiness!!!! And please don't tell me to wash the backs of my stamps cuz I've already tried it and it doesn't work. I don't know about you, but I am corraling clear stamps DAILY in my stamp room!!! And would someone please design a CD case that doesn't have that little opening on the front panel that makes it really EASY for these clear little stamps to escape to the land of "Lost and Missing Clear Stamps"???? Geez. To all you really smart and talented thinkers out there, GET BUSY with your inventions so I can save my clear stamps!!! Time's a tickin' and there's no time to waste, we've got to save our acrylic stamps!!!

Whew, sorry about that little tangent! I guess I need to reign myself in and bring you back to the details of today's card. The stamp set I DID end up using on my card is a Verve set called Petals & Stems! I love the simplicity of this set, one stamp for the leaves and stems and another stamp for the flower head. How easy peasy is that? I stamped the flowers on coordinating designer paper, cut them out and then adhered them to a piece of white cardstock that I had already stamped the stem images on. Don't you love the little butterfly I added flying around the flowers? I do! The Happy Birthday sentiment is from CHF.

Well, I think it's time for me to head upstairs to read the morning paper. I have some preparations to get done today for the Splitcoast Summer Stamp Fest I'll be attending tomorrow just a few miles away from my home. I have never been to a SCS gathering, so I'm really excited! I am participating in a non-SU! shoebox swap, which I've also never participated in before. So many new things I get to experience tomorrow! I will bring my camera and take some pictures to share with you next week!

Have a great day!

Hugs,
Amy

  2. Oh yes, my dear...you definitely have your mojo back. I too felt that my mojo had taken a vacation, but it's slowly creeping back. This is a fabulous card. I love everything about it, especially the fabulously bright and cheery summertime colors!

I feel your pain with the acrylic stamps. I have lost many myself. The CD cases flop open and the stamps are lost, never to be seen again. I've resorted to keeping the CD cases in a secondary storage as back up!

    BTW, lovely card. TFS.

  5. Very interesting that you chose petals and stems. I saw that Lori from Live-Love-Laugh-Create used it as well AND I did too, so funny. I guess the sketch was just screaming for that set. I love it and it is so easy and fun to work with. Great card. TFS!!!

  6. I think your mojo is definitely back. I LOVE this card! I haven't lost any acrylic stamps (yet) but I have lost a few stamps that are tiny and have that foam that's static and not sticky so I totally feel your pain.

  7. Most acrylic stamps will become sticky again if you wash with clear cool water. That is what I always do.. For some reason.. They get sticky again..

Great card! I love the bright orangy colors!

  9. Hey Amy! Love your card. It's mojo-riffic! I've had good luck with washing my stamps with a TINY drop of dishwashing soap. (Just enough to get it a bit sudsy). I usually let them soak for about 5 minutes in the water, then scrub gently with a soft toothbrush if needed. Then I just rinse them off and let them air dry and they seem to get sticky again. You also want to make sure your blocks and storage surfaces are clean. I periodically wipe mine down with glass cleaner because just rinsing them off doesn't seem to do the trick.
