All About Golf Today!

A few weeks ago, Michelle over at Stamper's Dream highlighted a bunch of new stamps she had just received for her store and I emailed her right away and said "I need to buy those!" One of the stamps I'm talking about was a martini glass (by Impression Obsession) with grass in it, two golf balls and a green flag stir stick! {{{{{Squeal}}}}}! I ordered it and a few awesome retirement sentiments to go with it.

I was able to play with my new stamp this past weekend and these two cards are the result of my playtime....isn't the glass adorable! For the first card, I paired the glass with a birthday (birdie) sentiment I've had for a long time from Savvy Stamps instead of the retirement sentiment I bought from Stamper's Dream. Obviously, this card is geared toward a woman...

I personalized the martini glass to be more "feminine" by giving the golf balls inside the glass a pink tinge with my Copics and coloring the green flag pink. The paper I used is by SEI and it's from their Laurel Collection, one of my all time favorites.

For the guy card, I gave the balls in the glass a blue-ish tinge. The flag is colored red (not pink as it appears in this picture, LOL).

The last step for both cards was covering the whole glass with Diamond Glaze to make it look like real glass. The sentiment on the guy card is Impression Obsession (but it's a stamp I bought a long time ago!!!).

Here are the stamps I bought from Michelle last week, just so you know what I'm talking about....

Martini Glass
Golf Sentiment I

Golf Sentiment II

Now, stay with me here because it will behoove you to do so. In my over zealousness ordering my golf stamps, I also ordered, by mistake, the CLEAR version SET of all of these stamps! Whoops! Obviously, I don't need the clear set if I've already got the wood stamps, do I? Since I'm feeling overly generous today, I've decided to give the clear Impression Obsession stamps away! Woo-hoo! Lucky you! (please note: This clear stamp set is currently sold out at Stamper's Dream, but should be back in stock shortly!!!!)

In honor of America's big birthday bash Friday (don't forget it's the Hubster's birthday on Friday too), please leave me a comment (on this post ONLY), sharing with all of us what makes you proud to be an American living in this great land. I'll draw a random winner on Sunday night. Sadly, this giveaway is open only to readers living in the USA (for obvious reasons, but also because I can't afford international shipping charges, LOL). I promise I'll have another blog candy giveaway later this summer that everyone will be able to play along with, OK?

Have a great day!

Hugs,
Amy

Living in the USA allows me to travel freely; to state my reasonable thoughts and feelings without fear of my life.

My father was in World War II and every day of his life was thankful for the opportunities we have in the good old USA. My dad died May 16, 2008.

Residents in many other countries in the world too are blessed similarly to us; sadly, many are not. Even in the midst of our tough economic times, as we celebrate Independence Day - July 4th - I'm thankful for the many military and civilians who are diligently working to keep us safe here in our country.

I am thankful that we live in the good ole USA. Many countries do not have the freedom s that we have. My grandfather fought in both WW1 and WW2. I am prouud to be and American. My newphew is on his 4th tour of duty in the Middleeast. He fights for our country to remain free of terroist. Susan

  3. Oh my, what a cute set!

I love living in America because, as a woman, I am free to do whatever I want. This is a wonderful place to live, so beautiful.

This 4th of July, like the last few, I think of all of our military who won't be able to picnic with their families, while they are over in other countries trying to fight for freedom there.

  4. I'm proud to be an American Citizen living in the land of great opportunities; where people of all races are welcome and given equal rights and opportunities! And I'm thankful to all men and women who serve the country to make this world a better place to live in.

  5. There are many, many reasons to be proud to be an American. The most dear to me is Freedom of Speech.

  6. I love that we as Americans are free to go anywhere, do anything (legal!), and say anything. I'm so grateful to those who have fought for our freedom.

  7. I am proud to say that by living in the USA, I CAN say to my kids (14, 12 & 8) that they have no limits on what they can aspire to be when they "grow up". Often times, the things that we take for granted, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, or the freedom to receive an education (to name a few)are pleasures that many around the world do not have. Independence Day, though filled with fun and friends, should also be taken as an opportunity to solemly reflect on these freedoms -as they have come to us at a price. As the songs goes..."I am proud to be an American..."

  8. HI Amy, Happy Birthday to you DH on the 4th!! I love the United States--we are such a resilient people and can bounce back from any adversity. We are the first to offer aid to any country who needs it. Also, this country is stunningly beautiful from the coast to coast. Thank you Amy and have a wonderful holiday.

I love being an American because I have the freedom to make my own decisions. I can go where I want when I want without having to account to anyone. I am proud of our country and all it has accomplished. America is the Best!

  11. Woohoo! :D I am so thankful for your generosity! Hehe! I am actually thankful that America still has freedom of religion. I know we are fortunate because not many countries can worship God as they please. Losing that freedom is a big fear of mine.

  14. I love that martini glass!!! I've been enjoying your posts! Thanks for sharing all your talent. I'm proud of all our troops putting their lives on the line for our freedom and for the freedom of others who were unfortunate to be born in a country that scoffs at freedom of the individual.

I often think of the different lives people live across our land, on the East coast, with mountains views, on the plains, or in the hot dessert.

We are seperated by hundreds of miles, talk with different accents, eat different foods, and live different lifestyles.

Our individuality is celebrated on our streets with festivals commemorating our past nationalities that we share with everyone who wishes to join us.

Then in July, the one National Holiday that every citizen across our Nation celebrates together, gathering in parks, cities, and neighborhoods, Independance Day.

We are free as individuals and as a nation to create our own destiny. One Nation under God.

I love America for its freedom just to BE! And the tolerance for all things. I may not always agree, but I'm allowed to disagree. Happy Independence day!

  21. First off, I love this stamp set and I want it, want it, want it! I would have offered to buy it off of you if you hadn't offered to give it away!!!

Why am I proud to be an American??? Because we are a great nation with a great heart and deep pockets. We come to the aid of other countries, right or wrong, agreed or unagreed. We send our children into other nations to protect their borders and their rights. We step up to the plate and let the world know we are a force to be reckoned with when crossed. We are not idle, ever. We take our freedom seriously, and we fight for the right to remain free. We unite together, we debate apart, but we stand side by side and help one another along the way. I am the luckiest person in the world simply because I am an American. And God has definitely blessed America, home of the free and the brave, so therefore, God has blessed me.

Hi Amy! REALLY REALLY cute golf cards!!!!! You did a fantastic job! I think the best thing about America is the people who truly believe in this country and strive to make it better. The soldiers who are willing to fight. . . the parents who volunteer in the schools to better the children's education. . . the folks with super huge kind hearts that are givers not takers. I think if everyone would commit to giving and cheerful service, our country would be so incredible. Happy 4th to you!

  28. Amy,

To answer....what the best thing about America...There has been a dear price paid for my ability to worship, speak, travel, read my Bible, love all people, and the list goes on. I will never be able to express my sincere gratitude for these abilities given to us freely by all branches of the Armed Forces. I love the plains out west, the mountains in the south, the majestic beauty of this country seers my senses. I love it here, wouldn't want to be anywhere else....except heaven. My blessings abound! Wow, that makes me HAPPY!!!! Be blessed and thanks for the opportunity, not only to take pause and reflect on just how woderful it is to be an American but also for the opportunity to win blog candy!

  29. I am proud (and privileged) to be an American because of our how this nation was founded; the basis being one of freedom from tyrannical governments and leaders. This is why I vote today, so that I know I have exercised my right to choose a leader who will lead this nation, and ultimately my life, into MORE freedom not LESS freedom. GOD BLESS THE USA!!!

  30. There are so many great things about the USA that it's hard to pin down just one thing. I suppose it would be ALL the freedoms we enjoy. When you hear about what citizens of other countries have to endure, it should make all of us stop and think about how good we have it.

What a great post... I think Americans too often take for granted all that it means to live in the Land of the Free, the Home of the Brave! One of the best things about living in America is having so many wonderful opportunities...

CUTE, cute cards! That set would be perfect for my husband (a golfer) and my almost three-year-old son -- who is happily following in Daddy's footsteps! ;)

Happy Birthday to the "Hubster", and Happy 4th to all!

America is the greatest country around in my opinion. Why else would so many people want to move here, both legally and not, and so many countries hate our guts for what we have and can do? We should all be thankful that so many have and continue to fight for all the rights we enjoy and even take for granted.

  33. What a cute cards. That stamp set is absolutely adorable!

I am happy to be an American because we have so much freedom here. Also as a woman I am free to do a lot more than women in other countries....I couldn't imagine not being able to speak my mind!

Happy 4th...and Happy Birthday to your Hubby!

  34. Amy,
Happy Birthday to your Hubby! How wonderful to have the entire nation shoot of fireworks on your birthday!

I'm thankful every day that we live in a country that allows us freedom to worship as we choose, live where we wish, and that's filled with people, who pull together when we're challenged.

Blessings to you on this 4th of July. Happy Birthday, America!

As we celebrate our nations freedom today I think that is the simple answer - Freedom of ALL kinds, just to live our lives without restrictions. I wasn't born a citizen but CHOSE to become one, the very fact that people choose to come here and raise their families says so much about a great nation, I wasn't from an underpriviliged nation but this is where I choose to be.

  37. I just got back from our hometown 4th of July parade. It was so fun! There were even Air Force jets doing fly-bys! I love our ability to celebrate our Freedom with ease. We are so lucky and most of us don't even realize JUST HOW lucky we really are. God bless the USA! Thanks for the chance to win some clear stamps, too!

  38. It always amazes me to think about how many people are willing to join the Armed Forces and fight for the country they obviously love so much. We owe everything to those special people who have fought, are fighting and will continue to fight for freedom and especially to those who are wounded or have lost their lives. My prayers also go out to those who are back home and trying to lead normal lives and leave the war behind them. I can't even imagine how difficult that is. God Bless our troops! God Bless America!

  42. I am so proud to be an American and I truly thank those individuals who fought to make that happen for each and every one of us. With our diverse population, it is very evident that We, the people, are the lucky ones to have freedom of speech, freedom to worship where we want, freedom to go out and not worry about our safety on a daily basis like so many of these people have had to do before fleeing to America. I pray for those folks to realize how great America is as well. God Bless America!!!
