Take It on The Run, Baby....

Do you guys remember this tune? It's by REO Speedwagon, one of my favorite rock bands growing up (yes, I am a by-product of the early 80s!). Guess what? We're going to their concert tonight!!!! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited! We're going with our friends Mike and Sue. It's an outdoor concert at the State Capitol in St. Paul, MN, part of the city's 4th of July celebration. I think it's going to be so much fun! I still love listening to REO, to this day, so we're gonna have a blast! Four middle-aged adults rockin' out at a concert. What a sight that's going to be.....

Do you wanna know what we did last night? I think I deserve a Mother of the Year award (tongue-in-cheek). We took the boys to Valleyfair, an big amusement park here. I can honestly say I haven't been on a roller coaster for about 20 years! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of myself that I didn't cry, soil myself, or upchuck on any of the 4 different roller coaster rides they forced me on! Criminy people, I'm seriously too old for that sort of stuff, but I wanted to be a nice mom, KWIM???? The first ride we went on was the very first roller coaster the park ever had....it's so old and rickity I had serious reservations about stepping one foot on it. But if it's still running, it must be safe, right? Well, I'm happy to say we got off of it alive, but I seriously thought my boys (Hubby included) were going to soil themselves laughing at my hysterical screaming throughout our ride! Never, on any ride, did I open my eye to see where I was going. I was terrified!!!! All the jerking, sharp turns and loud noises did me in and I think I was in bed by 9p (no, I don't think, I KNOW I was in bed by 9p!), and asleep by 915p! Some of the worst jarring my body took yesterday was when we rode the bumper (bummer) cars....oh my gosh, someone came crashing into me and I could hear my spine go crunch!!!!!!!!!! In the end, we all had a great time, I think the boys were really proud of their old mom!

Well, I'm sure you want to see today's eye candy, mmmm???? Enough banter, you've got places to go and people to see, I'm sure. Well, you all know by now that Verve is having a Starry Card Challenge over at SCS to celebrate them becoming a new member company, don't you? Well, I decided to do another project besides the patriotic card I showed you the other day. Instead of a card, I made a floral arrangement (a REAL one) and made a little tag to go on the arrangement! Isn't it cute? It was so much fun and so different than making a card. I'll let you in on a little secret....when I was first married, I wanted to be a floral designer, not a surprise, is it, knowing how much I love flowers. What finally scared me away was the thought of not having a Saturday to myself for the rest of my life and not ever having a holiday to myself for the rest of my life! So, this project was an act of love for me!

I think it's time to go now. I want to go get some stamping done. Remember to leave me a comment on THIS post to win some blog candy!

Hugs,
Amy

Such a beautiful arrangement for the 4th and the card is perfect. You should contact a florist and tell them you will make the cards for their arrangements.

    Happy 4th,
    Doris

  10. Oh Amy you crack me up! I'm the same age as you and my boys are 6 and {almost} 3 ... oh yea, pray for me! *grin* I am a roller coaster lover but have not been on one since the babies arrived. I wonder if I would "lose it" if I went on one now. I'm impressed you survived. *LOL*

Now off to check on your blog candy post - I think I missed that as I've been "out" the past few days.

  11. Good for you, Amy! I love my family.....a lot.....but my hubby is the rollercoaster DUDE and rode every one of them with our kids while they were growing up! I'm a tilt-a-whirl kinda gal and would ride it over and over again with them. ;)

Love the flowers and the darling tag, too. You are quite the gal!

Happy Independence Day and enjoy your REO concert, you ole fogies! (tongue in cheek)

  12. Just got back a few weeks ago from Kings Island. The roller coasters didn't kill me but the Tower Drop almost did. I truely felt the need to either upchuck or wet myself on that one!!! (I have pics on my blog if you'd like to see that one!)

We saw Styx & REO a few years ago in Peoria. All age groups there. Sitting in front of us was a couple our age (late 30s early 40s) with THIER PARENTS and thier kids! 3 generations. We took my daughter when she was 5 to see Styx, REO & Eddie Money. Too fun!!
