Scrap Stash Saturday

These are the four papers I blindly pulled from my scrap drawer yesterday..... yikes! While the card basically came together really quickly, I did have a really hard time getting one of these papers onto the card....can you guess which it was?

If you said the paper with the circles on it (by American Craft), you guessed right! Mama mia I struggled. The good news is that they all shared the color blue. Thank heavens for small miracles.

The bad news is that they couldn't have been more different from each other! The paper that stood out the most as far as not "going" together is the far right pattern from my beloved Webster's Pages. This pattern is called Nature's Way and it SO doesn't go with the rest of the bold, bright, colorful papers I had blindly chosen. I might not have felt that it "went" with the other papers, but I sure was glad I had chosen this one, because the paper was the perfect jumping off point for the card. The pattern is very soft and subdued, something this card was going to be in desperate need of!

As I said, I used the Webster's Pages as the main paper on the card. I used the far left paper in the picture (We R Memory Keepers/Boho Chic Fancy Free) to make sort of a "frame" on top of the Webster's paper, and I used the coral striped paper (DaisyD's) as the scallop at the bottom of the card. I love how the coral in the Boho Chic paper picks up the coral in the DaisyD's paper!

So that's three papers down. I already told you that the 4th paper, the American Craft circles, is the one I struggled with, right? Any clue where it ended up on the card? Look closely..........still can't find it? Well, I sort of feel like I cheated with this paper, cuz I only used a TINY bit of it. But, in defense of myself, I never really made any rules or regulations when I started this feature that I had to use a certain amount of a paper for it to qualify as "being used" on the card, did I (insert evil grin)?????

Ok, I'll spill. In order to get this ridiculously bright, bold paper onto my somewhat subdued, earthy card, I punched out one of the circles on the AC paper that was brown and white! Then, I took that circle and cut it in half and then cut each half in half again to come up with the quarter circles in each corner of the frame. Brilliant? A lucky break is what I think it was!!!! One lone, brown circle on the rather large piece of AC scrap that I blindly pulled???? What are the odds?

Are you ready to give this challenge a whirl yourself? If you are, leave me a comment and I'll choose one lucky person to send 4 blindly pulled scraps to so you can do what I do every Saturday! Post the card on your blog and then I'll highlight your scrap challenge card on my blog next Saturday! There's no sense in just me having all the fun, right?

I hope you all have a beautiful, relaxing Saturday. Enjoy!!!

Hugs,

Amy

  1. Amy, I love seeing how you so creatively pull those sometimes "wild" papers together. I'd love to take a stab at it although I don't know if I'll be as successful. Thanks SO much for your great blog, you truly are an inspiration.
