A Little Birdie told me....

Yep, Mr. Birdie's back. I've missed him so much. All my birdies have sat unloved on top of my shelf for too long now. I had to pick them up yesterday and give one of them a little lovin'!

I found this American Craft paper this past weekend at my LSS. I love the colors! I believe the pattern is called Brushetta. I went into this thinking that I didn't want to make it too elaborate because what I really needed was to get some cards whipped out and QUICK! My stash is basically nil. I sent a handful of cards home with my SIL, and now I'm left with nothing. So out with elaborate, in with SIMPLE! Gotta love that!

I matted the designer paper with Real Red. I adhered it to black card stock with a white inside. I stamped Mr. Birdie once on Whisper White card stock, and then again on two different scrap pieces of designer paper. I cut out the body on one scrap, and the wings off the other designer paper. I glued them to the bird stamped on the Whisper White. He is mounted with dimensional tape on top of a white 1' circle, which is on top of a Cuttlebug flower punched out of Real Red card stock. Than, the whole deal is mounted on top of two square scalloped punches, one in Whisper White and one in Summer Sun. The red polka dot ribbon ties it all together!

I wanted to share a few recent photos with you today (I think I'm going to try and do a photo each day that captures the essence of our lives this summer!). The bunny was a fun capture, Sunday night at my in laws. They live in the cities, so their backyard is relatively cozy. This little guy hopped on up to the little garden to the side of the deck and just sat there on the edge of the garden for the longest time. We couldn't have been more than 10 ft away from him! He wasn't scared at all! I love this picture because the bunny was so mellow and relaxed sitting there, and I like it because the watering can is right behind him! Watering cans are a quintessential sign of summer!

The next photo is a picture of my son and a few of his teammates at last night final game of the regular season! My son is the only one with a helmet on as he was soon up to bat! I love this shot because they all are such handsome boys and such great friends to boot! They had a great time playing together this summer and it shows in their genuine smiles! Kinda tugs at my heartstrings! Tugs at the old heartstrings, doesn't it?

I hope you are taking time to photograph your special moments of summer!

I love the photo of the boys ... I can imagine them 20 years from now looking at that photo and smiling! Love your photos and your family stories, Amy.

That card is adorable! I have never seen any American Crafts papers in my stores. I need to go on a hunt to find some!

  2. I love your "simple" card. I like the colors on the bird, esp. the white around his eye. And simple really "works" with this busy desinger paper.

I, too, have been enjoying summer and all the little signs thereof. Thanks for sharing your photo highlights with us.
