A Touch of Spring

I've gotten some requests recently for Easter cards, so I had to get my Easter stamps out and get busy. Unfortunately, I don't have many Easter stamps to get stamping with!!!

Instead, I pulled out my handy dandy flower stamps, which I think are perfect for Easter cards, especially when you use Easter appropriate colors! This card actually uses Elegant Eggplant and Certainly Celery, although it's hard to tell on this photo. It's a little washed out!

I watercolored the flower using my aquapainter and Elegant Eggplant and Lovely Lilac inks. The thing I love about watercoloring is that you don't need it to be perfect. You can tell on the flower that I go WAY OUTSIDE the lines here, which is a look I love. The flower is mounted on a piece of Certainly Celery and then is mounted on a Cuttlebugged piece of EE cardstock. The purple organza polka dot ribbon is the perfect accent to finish it off. Whoops, can't forget about the purple bling in the middle of the flower! Isn't it purrrty? It's a purple glass flower that looks positively beautiful as the center of the flower! Gotta love every chance you get to bling up your cards!

Here's another card I made this past weekend. I really need to be using up some designer paper I have laying around that is half used. I loved this paper a long time ago and lost sight of it until now. It's aqua and orange, if you can believe it. Who would have ever put these two colors together on their own? I used my Perfect Petals stamps to make a front panel that matches the paper. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I used Cool Caribbean and Pumpkin Pie for my cardstock colors that matched the paper. Added a few ribbon loops and this card was finished.

I want to take a minute to highlight a few cards today made by Kim, one of my faithful readers. She is so sweet, she particiates in my sketch challenge EVERY week and makes amazing cards. These are her cards from sketches #3 and #4. It's amazing how different cards can look using the same sketch, but different stamps and colors. Great job, Kim! Keep at it!!! Check out Kim's blog, The Occasional Stamper to see more of her work!

Amy, what flower stamp is that on your Easter card? I love how you've colored outside the lines... I'll have to give that a try!

I was out shopping just yesterday and saw and bright tangerine orange shirt with brown and turquoise accents. I wrote down the color combo so I could use it. Now here I come and see your card. Hmmmmm

  6. Very pretty cards! I have that stamp you used on the purple card at the top and it goes so well with that CB embossing folder. You did a great job with the coloring, too - good idea to go outside the lines.
