Wonderful Watercolor

This card didn't photograph nearly as well as it looks IRL. It's really beautiful when you are standing here holding it in your hands.
The paper is by Crate. For the floral image, I took my Petal Prints flowers, stamped them in ink (Cranberry Crisp, More Mustard, and Bashful Blue), and then spritzed them with water. I applied the spritzed images onto regular cardstock, not watercolor paper because I didn't have any. I added the sentiment (Hero Arts) right next to the flower image, and then went over the the whole image with Distress Ink in Tea Stain (by Ranger). I do this alot with my images. Most of the time, just the image on either Very Vanilla or Whisper White is too stark for me. I take a SU sponge, rub it in the Distress Ink, and then rub it all over the image, in circles. It's gives it a nice aging. Obviously, this technique isn't right for every type of card, but if you like the worn, aged look, it's the perfect way to go. I matted the flower image on Bravo Burgandy, and did the same with the background paper, which is also by Crate. The whole shebang is mounted on So Saffron. IRL, it looks like my stamped flower image is from the same line of paper! I love it. Now I just need to remember where I bought the paper so I can go buy some more! I've been fast at work the past few days stamping, trying to get my stash up. I need to send some cards to my SIL in Virginia for her to sell. Maybe I'll post again later today with some of the cards I've gotten done in the last few days!

  1. This is so beautiful! I've been wondering about the tea stain ink and you've convinced me I need it!

  2. It's a shame that scans and photos often rob the charm a card really has. I find this one lovey as shown though! Very pretty!
