Valentine's Inspiration #5

Sorry it's been so long since I posted...ok, it's not been TOO long though, has it? I just took a few days off to get used to the fact that I now have to write '07 on my checks instead of '06! Just kidding. But I did write '06 on my check today and the clerk had to ask me to change it. Whoops. It always takes a while to get that down.

Here is a box and card I made today for a potential class I will be teaching at a LSS. It was so much fun!
This fun little box can be used to put a little something special in it for Valentine's Day for your sweetiepie. Candy, nuts, a watch, or whatever. I made the card to go with the box so the two coordinate...good idea, uh? I took two coordinating papers and covered all sides of the box. I didn't go edge to edge with the paper, I cut it slightly shorter and narrower than each side. This way, you don't have the paper fraying at the edges of the box. Just make sure you use plenty of glue to keep the paper down. I did the same for the top and sides of the top as well. I aged the paper just a little bit to give it some depth. I added L-O-V-E letters to the top of the box, with a punched out heart and an antique ribbon. As an afterthought, I added the word "cherish" to the top too. For the card, I used the same paper as I did for the box, the same L-O-V-E letters and the same heart, only I added a circle to the card so I can use this for the SCS Sketch Challenge for today. I am not thrilled with the card...I feel like something is missing, but I can't put my finger on what. Any ideas?

Yesterday and today were spent putting away holiday decorations (yeah!!!), and cleaning. I love how it feels when everything is back to normal again. The rooms look so much bigger, don't they? My son is due back from the Rose Bowl Parade tomorrow night, 9pm or so. I spoke with him on the road this afternoon, and unfortunately, the air conditioning on the bus wasn't working and they were so hot. The bus had just pulled to the side of the road to see if it could be fixed. I hope it was fixable and that they got right back on the road! Can you just imagine the sight? 9 buses pulled to the side of the road???? I hope everyone stayed safe. They made the kids stay on the bus, which is good and bad. Bad because they were so hot.....

I am still waiting for my new banner. I am hoping it's soon. Sam is so busy that it's hard for her to keep up with the demand. Let's keep our fingers crossed it's by next week!

  1. Love the box and the card! I had the opposite problem last month: I dated a cheque 2007 before 06 had ended. Guess I was already feeling some anxiety about it! :o)

  2. I was away for a couple weeks, only to return to more wonderful creations! I love these!!! I think the cherish was a cute addition to the box, but I don't think the card is lacking at all. I love it just as it is!

    Happy 2007!
