Here's is the third Valentine's Day card I want to share with you.
Once again, this card was loosely based on one of the cards found in the BasicGrey Blush Card kit. Sometimes all I need is to see something that inspires me and I can go and successfully whip out a card. But there are other times when nothing inspires me at all. I'm pretty sure anything BasicGrey inspires me:). I love simple designs, and this card exemplifies simple (and easy). There is no matting, and nothing fancy to it at all, yet it's effective in simply relaying my love to the recipient. There are times we go overboard on our card designs, I am quite guilty of that. I sometimes try to keep up with all the beautiful cards I see on SCS, and think I need to be doing that too. But you know what, sometimes simple is not only easier, but it's more pleasing to the eye. For this card, I aged the edges of both pieces of paper, as well as the heart I cut out. I tied gold cording around the heart, added and "i love you" sentiment and popped it on the front of the card with puff tape (I don't remember the technical term for this stuff, but it's made by 3M and it's puffy:)). I added the sentiment "from my heart to yours" right below the heart. And that was it. Another VD card under my belt. I hope you liked this one!
Rose Bowl Update: We spoke with our son out in Pasadena today. Of course, as expected, he's gotten a cold and cough. They are running ragged. Their instructor made them practice for 3 hours yesterday, gave them an hour for lunch, and then made them practice another 3 hours. Outside of practicing, I don't think they've done anything else. Today they were up early, and then headed for the Rose Bowl Bandfest, where all the bands perform on the football field at Pasadena College. After that, they are taken to THE Rose Bowl football stadium for a photo session on the field(how COOL is that?), and after that they are headed for a tour of the parade floats (that's even MORE cool). After THAT, they are headed to Universal Studios for the day. At 945p, they have a group dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, and then they'll be back at the hotel by 1115p or so. Can you believe this schedule? As a mother, I want to scream "Let these kids rest", but the other, more rational side of me says "go for it", you will never have this experience again. Live it up when you can. Enjoy every minute, every smell of the Rose Bowl Parade. There is nothing bigger for a marching band. And I can't believe my son is there. I have to pinch myself that he is actually experiencing all this at age 15! I think he could use a few prayers though for protection from illness and for extended energy. Those of you reading this that pray, could you add E to your list today? That would make me (a worrisome mother) feel much better. Thank you!
