Well, I did it.
I fought through it and look what I did. I got a card made!!! Woot-woot! This is not saying that it was easy or that I didn't struggle every single minute I sat there, staring at the mess that is my desk. I struggled alot! And I'm not particularly loving this card, but, I'll take what I can get at this stage of the game.
My SIL Jayne is begging for sympathy cards for her gals out in VA, so I knew that when I finally did sit down to create, sympathy cards were first on the docket. To work through my creative block, I first picked out some designer paper that really appealed to me, and what creative person could ever resist a fabulous polka dot paper??? And since I really LOVE my EK Success large scallop punch, I grabbed that and a piece of scrap paper from my drawer and added a beautiful scalloped layer to the front of my card.
Next came the sentiment. I reached for my Papertrey Ink With Sympathy set because it has such fabulous, touching sentiments. I reach for this one often when making sympathy cards. I positioned the sentiment to the upper right hand side of the card. A few well positioned butterflies later, and I had a completed card. Except that the blank upper left side of the card was really bothering me. While I ended up putting in some flowers to fill that space (which is the completed card you see here), I originally had stamped a sentiment that said "Thinking of You" on a separate piece of scrap paper (which I had matted and attached with dimensional tape), but when I looked at it this morning, I noticed that there were some black ink smudges on it and had to remove it. That's the point at which I threw the flowers went on and I called it a day;0). My glass-half-full thought was that I had finished my first card (in a very long time), and I was happy. I had successfully navigated myself through the desert.
Well, I had planned to share another card with you today, one that I made back in October, but I am having trouble with Blogger. When I first started today's post, I uploaded two pics, but it wouldn't let me move the pictures where I wanted them in the text. So I deleted one and tried to upload it again, but then it wouldn't let me upload anything. Not having blogged for so long, I'm not sure if there was changes made to Blogger in my absence, or if today is just a bad day for Blogger. Anybody know?
Well, I am going to try and get another card made before I have to get ready for work. I am still working 5 days a week at the chiropractic clinic, but this week I work Saturday too. No plans for the weekend, other than just hanging out. It will be the first time the hubster's been home for a while (minus Christmas). Remind me to tell you about the funny story about my trip to Atlanta and Birmingham last weekend, OK? No time to do that today.
Hugs,
Amy
That's beautiful! Got some creativity left after all ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the card - you just picked up where you left off - it's like you never left! Your card creations are so pretty!!!
ReplyDeletei knew you could do it! i love the big scallops--how'd you do that?--and the pretty butterflies. to me, they symbolize new beginnings, so they're good for a sympathy card--they bring hope.
ReplyDeletekudos to you! keep at it!
Nice to discover you're back! Could not help to visit your blog now and then.... I like your card very much, so go on please! We'll support you ;-))
ReplyDeleteI think your card is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteAmy, love your card today. So glad to see you are back. I was so excited on Sunday when I saw your name in my google reader.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! The first card's always the hardest! :) I totally do that same sitting... waiting... staring game after any kind of break from stamping (and sometimes even when there hasn't been a break! LOL). Love that fun polka dot paper and the scallops. So glad to see a card from you! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a gorgeous card Amy!
ReplyDeleteIts lovely!!!! :) Welcome back!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI hate Blogger, nothing works with it anymore. I downloaded (for free) LiveWriter. It allows you to type up your blog post like you would type a Word document. Awesome. Totally awesome. I will never again post without it.
It has a ton of great features and is pretty easy to learn to use. Hope that helps you out.
((((HUGS))))
And a beautiful card it is! Sorry you are struggling with mojo. I do that when I get burned out (either from stamping a really lot in a short time, or just tired physically), so unless I have to have something made for a class, I just leave it until I feel like stamping.
ReplyDeleteYour card turned out cute. I'm sure it will be an encouragement to whoever receives it. Glad you're back to card making. :)
ReplyDeleteThis turned out beautifully!!!! YAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Amy! Love it and I'm sure it will bring comfort to it's recipient. Good job breaking through and creating! Welcome back! ~chris
