Finding That Lost Mojo

Good morning! First of all, I want to thank all of you SOOOO much for the glorious welcome back you sent me via your touching comments. I was blown away. I seriously didn't think anyone would have still had me in their Google Reader after all this time. But, I'm thinking y'all might know me better than I know myself, LOL. Crafting and creating are two of the things that mean the most to me, and it appears to me that you knew better than I knew myself that I would probably be back someday. You can take away the time a girl has to craft, but you can't take away the desire, for the most part.

Unfortunately, I still haven't made anything. I don't know if this has happened to any of you, but I sit down here in my office, surrounded by all my fun crafting gear, and I freeze. I find ways to fill my time with other things (like surfing the net and/or playing FreeCell, sometimes simultaneously!!!), so I won't have to saddle up to the crafting side of my office and make a card.

I was up early this morning, cleaned up my stamping area so I could at least have a small 6x6 inch space to create a card, and then I sat there. Staring. Waiting. for. the. creative. lightening. to. strike. It never did. So, I'm left here wondering what the heck I'm going to do here on my blog. What the heck I'm going to share if I can't manage creating a card again? And then it occurred to me that maybe I should share my journey toward finding LOST MOJO. I've read enough blogs in my lifetime to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. I think it's a state of mind many of us go through now and again depending on our life circumstances. Maybe my struggles will help someone else out there reading this blog. Could it be????

So think. Think. Think. Think. What the heck can I do to kick-start my mojo? I can surf the blogs-which I already do. And I can tell you, my mojo is too far gone for that to work. I read my favorite blogs everyday, salivating and admiring all the beautiful cards you all are making. But so far, that hasn't helped me cozy on up to my own stamp table. So, next on the list might be getting in touch with SCS again. That IS something I can actively do. Over the last few months, I haven't visited there much at all. I don't know why. But I do know SCS used to be a place where I would venture daily to gain creative insight and inspiration.

So today friends, my goal is to visit SCS again. I will leisurely stroll through all the beautiful cards and find a few that spark more than a passing interest. I will search for those one or two cards that scream "Here I am!!! Aren't I amazing???" And then I will say a silent prayer to God, asking Him to unleash the creative juices that are screaming to get out of my body. And after that, I'll put one foot in front of the other, pick up some favorite designer paper and get to work.

And then I'll share my card with you. Good, bad, or ugly. I promise you I WILL get a card on my blog before end of week. I can't seek perfection right off the bat, can I? I just need to get something on paper to start the wheels turning. If any of you reading this are experiencing your own lack of creative mojo, please visit SCS right along with me today, ok? Then I will know I'm not alone in my struggles!!

Have a super productive day friends!!!

Hugs,
Amy

  4. Amy...how about just flat out casing some of your favorites you find in your blog surfing?...get the feel of the paper and glue on your fingers...that does help me!

  5. Oh, Amy. I totally know how you feel. I browse the gallery and get overwhelmed sometimes. I've found lately that using keyword searches really helps. Like "CAS"- there are TONS of gorgeous things there that don't scare me with tons of layers and embellishments and stuff. . . things I *love* but have been intimidated by lately.

HUGS and best of luck to you. Just PLAY. I love it when you do!

  6. I haven't had any mojo for a while either, but one thing that has worked in the past for me is to try the challenges on SCS or other sites. It gives me a framework to start with and then I can build from there. Good luck, have fun, and stay warm (as I think you are in MN too! brr...)
