We are sitting in a hotel in holland, OH, relaxing from a long day driving home from Virginia. Today's drive was good, the roads were in great condition...no worries about slick roads like when we were driving out.
These are photos from our trip into Washington, DC last night to see the National Christmas Tree. Uff da, it was PACKED! Jayne and Ken drove in one car, the five of us drove in another, with Jayne leading the way. She got us all the way into the district and then decided Ken wasn't up to getting out and walking to the tree. So they went home and the rest of us braved the crazy crowd and got some touristy pictures in front of the tree! This is a shot of the five of us just outside the fence surrounding the tree. I had my tripod with me so we set up the camera and the timer and ended up with this shot of the five of us together.
You can tell by the way were dressed that it was a balmy 60 degrees by the time we got there. Funny how it was 11 below zero when we set out for the east coast a week ago today. Coming from that kind of weather you can imagine how we were thrilled with the warm weather. Lots of people were bundled up in hats and coats, but not us hard core Minnesotans. Youngest son exclaimed that he should have worn shorts...I do have to add here that it was strange being somewhere so warm and BROWN for Christmas....lights and tacky lawn decorations just don't look as good without snow! Being away from home for the holidays made me appreciate the snow we do get each December and how much it makes it really feel like Christmas...

Oooh, the tree is just gorgeous. I'm sure it's probably even more impressive IRL. You got some great shots & what a neat thing that it was so warm.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the pictures. The weather seemed balmy here in MN, with little or no wind and above zero temps. The roads are clear so have a relaxed trip home.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures. Glad you got to see the tree. I am a lifelong resident of this area and don't like snow. Now when I was a kid and got school off, that was a different story:) Happy New Year. Look forward to seeing your art.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! What a beautiful bunch of people! Great shot Amy. Beautiful tree. Sounds like your trip was simply fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time and you arrived home safely! Too bad you couldn't have made a pit stop for lunch in Chicago! Some day we will meet up! : )
