My Christmas Tree!

Christmas just isn't complete without me trying my darndest to snag the perfect photo of our tree lit up at night. I am not joking when I say this!

Over the past few days, I've been trying to get the perfect shot but wasn't having much luck. Until last night that is. I finally took out the one tool that is a MUST-have when taking photos of your Christmas tree....the ever faithful tripod! That's because to take a good picture, you need to have a long exposure. Much longer than you would ever be able to hold the camera still for.
All of these pictures were taken with my digital SLR (Nikon D40) camera, on Manual setting. That means no flash and I set up the f-stop and shutter speed myself. It takes lots and lots of practice, and to be quite honest, I won't be able to give anyone lessons here today on how to take the perfect shot yourself. But do what I did...do a Google search on "how to take Christmas light photos", or something like that. You'll find lots of good sites with great tips. And then all you can do after that is practice, practice, practice!!!!

Here are my favorite from last night....

I decided to take a few pictures of my favorite ornaments. I think I got this one last year from my Mom. I love it.

And this is an ornament the Hubster gave me a few years ago. The snowmen represent the two of us....awwwww, isn't that sweet? I love how I was able to get the lights to throw off a star-like sparkle!

Holiday Hugs,

Amy

Very colorful tree. I like the picture. It is hard trying to get a good picture. I took a lot of pics of my tree with and with out the flash.
I am pleased with the ones without the flash.

    Love your blog!

  3. Great pictures. Now go to Michaels and buy some inexpensive frames and hang the photo's.

Every year you could change the pictures.

Did your DH go for a job interview?
