A Little Bit of Acetate

I had a blank folded card sitting on my desk that had only about a quarter of the front remaining (I think it was faulty so I had used part of the front for something else). Besides having 3/4 of the front missing, it was still good for something I thought.

So I attached a piece of clear acetate to the remaining part of the card front, and wah-lah, a perfect card ready for some decorating! Before I got started creating, I rounded the corners of both the front and back of the card to soften it up. Next, I covered up the seam between the cardstock and the acetate that I had attached to the front. I covered it with a thin strip of BG designer paper that I had scalloped first. Then I stamped on the white snowflakes, both on the cardstock (with Whisper White craft ink) and the acetate (using white Stazon), making sure I left enough room on the acetate for the inside sentiment to be seen. On the inside, I stamped the sentiment on a coordinating piece of red designer paper, which suddenly made the snowflakes I stamped on the acetate beautifully visible! I love when that happens!

The front of the card needed a little somethin-somethin, so I made a "poinsettia" flower using the new flower die I got from SU. To turn the flower into something that resembled a poinsettia, I first placed a vintage button in the middle of it, then used a scissors to cut the petals toward the button so they were longer and more individual, if that makes any sense. Then I used my gold leafing marker to outline around each petal. I glued this flower on top of another flower that I had cut out with the die (but I didn't cut up the petals like I did on the top flower). The leaves were also cut out from the SU die using some fun green striped designer paper (from my scrap drawer) and then distressed a bit with some Ranger Distress Ink in Walnut.

This was such a fun card to make. I don't use acetate much, so it was fun to stretch myself a bit. Hope you like it.

Well, I've got a tiny bit of good news. The Hubster is being flown out to an undisclosed location today for an interview. I'm keeping it undisclosed because some colleagues that know my hubby read my blog. We need to keep it a secret, so shhhhh. He'll have dinner with them tonight, and then tomorrow would be the "real" interview. He is really nervous. Can you believe this is the first company to fly him out for an interview? Every other interview he's had over this past year, the company made their final decision based on phone conversations! Yikes. Anyways, your prayers for safe travel and a good interview are appreciated!

Amy
