Super Sketch Sunday

Thanks to Charmaine, I am bringing back Super Sketch Sundays! She says she really misses them, and once I started thinking about it, I did too. I know there are millions of bloggers that are doing sketches these days, but I want to add a bit more of a twist to mine than what's out there right now. I am going to add one little extra requirement to the mix ladies!

You all know I love mixing different patterns of paper together. The more patterns on a card, the better (I know that's not everyone's way of thinking though)! Although I am not going to make you pick your papers with your eyes shut (like I do on Scrap Stash Saturdays), I am going to ask that you use at least 3 different patterns on your card each week! This is really easy since most paper manufacturers make their paper collections with numerous different patterns, but in all the same colors! Instead of using each one separately on a card, put them together for an explosion of color and textures!

Here's the card I made using this week's sketch. As I've done so much lately, I decided to turn to K & Co's Berry Sweet Collection to give my card a little bit of WOW! The sketch makes it very clear where each of your patterned papers goes on the card. Feel free to use whatever embellishment you want where the ribbon goes. I made another card using this sketch that I'll show you tomorrow, but in the place of the ribbon, I used Tim Holtz's Grunge Board instead. And you can either use a sentiment or an image in the small box in the lower right hand corner. On today's card you'll see I used both an image and a sentiment.... and in such a small box too! It can be done.

If you want to use this sketch and want to upload it to SCS, use the code SSS1 so I can be sure and see what you've done with it! A special thanks to Charmaine for inspiring me to give my sketches another go!

Speaking of Charmaine...can I tell you about the weirdest dream I had last night? Just let me tell you that I think this blogging stuff is taking over my psyche! Last night I dreamed that I ran into Charmaine at my LSS! I was getting on an elevator to go to the 2nd floor (don't ask me why I dreamed about a 2nd floor..my LSS does NOT have a second floor!) As I get onto the elevator, I notice this familiar head of red hair and familiar face (the one I see everyday when I visit her blog) and lo and behold, it's CHARMAINE! She was in town for a gathering of bloggers (of which I was not invited I might add:))! She was so sweet! The next part of the dream I remember is going with Charmaine over to someone's house to stamp....and do you know whose house it was? MISH-MASH (Michelle Wooderson)! I kid you NOT! I do NOT know Mish-Mash, and I do not know WHY she was in my dream! She has never visited my blog (that I know of), but I Google Reader hers! Anyways, I was nosing around in her studio while she was in there, but I didn't introduce myself (I'm very shy). I leave her studio to roam around her house for a little while. After a bit, I decided that I was going to go back into her studio and introduce myself. I went up to her and said "Hi, I'm Amy Westerman from Heartfelt Greetings", and she shakes my hand and say, "Amy, I know who you are"! I KID YOU NOT, this was a real dream!!!!! I was so honored she knew who I was cuz she's such an icon in the blogging world....and that she knew who I was.....I was thrilled!

I think this dream I had is HYSTERICAL!!! Can you believe I actually dreamed about fellow bloggers? One of them I know (Charmaine) because we are on the Verve design team together and she's a longtime reader of my blog (and I of hers), but dreaming about Mish-Mash (Michelle Wooderson)! I've never conversed with her via email, and although I read her blog all the time, I don't think I've ever left a comment, even though I {{{{{heart}}}}} her work! I will definitely have to leave both Charmaine and Michelle a comment today directing them to this post so they can have a good laugh too!! Seriously, have you ever???????

Well, this post has droned on long enough. It's time to cut you loose, if you've made it this far! Doug and I had a wonderful time last night on our anniversary dinner--the food was fabulous!

  1. That dream was HILARIOUS, Amy! Thanks for sharing that! And I'm so excited you brought back your Super Sketch Sundays! Woo hoo! And a great excuse to use some of my scrap pile of patterned papers too! By the way, I do not know Michelle Wooderson personally either, so that is TOO funny that I was taking you to HER house! LOL If I'm ever invited to a Blogger's get together, I will be sure and invite you! :)

Amy, Just wanted you to know I made your chocolate cake recipe for the last night of my ladies Bible study (Beth Moore-Stepping Up). It was a BIG hit! I don't know what this has to do with your dream or your sketch (which I love), but just wanted you to know it was great!

  11. Hi Amy,

Just wanted to let you know that your link to "Just Give me Stamps" takes us to an old post on her blog, not her recent posts. At first I thought she just didn't update very often, but then I realized it was the link, and she's a very faithful blogger!!!

ps - love the colours in your card today!
