I decided to do a card for Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch Contest this week! And am I ever glad I did. I love how this card turned out. Let me rephrase that so I don't sound like such an ego-maniac, ok???????
I think what makes me love the card is the color! I don't do monotone cards very often, and I don't do lilac cards all that much! But yowza, I think I'm going to do monotone and lilac more often!!!
The main image panel was achieved by stamping Versamark on glossy paper and then embossing the Silhouette Blossoms image with white embossing powder. Then I rubbed River Rock ink from the top of the image about a 1/3 of the way down, and then rubbed Lovely Lilac 2/3 of the way from the bottom of the image up. I lightly went over the River Rock portion of the image with more Lovely Lilac. The last step is rubbing the ink off the embossed image.
Silly me, I forget what this technique is called, probably because I don't ever do it! That's right. I'm a straight, simple stamper. I don't do special techniques very often! So, this card is special (for me) on a variety of levels, isn't it? It 1) is monotone in nature, 2) it utilizes a color I don't use all that much (Lilac), and 3) it utilizes a special stamping technique! Yippee! I'm stepping outside my norm! That's a good thing peeps. I promise, I'll to do it again sometime!
Well, the storm of the century that's been threatening to bear down on Minneapolis has so far side-stepped us, thank heavens. I haven't heard the latest on the weather, but I'm hoping we are out of the woods as far as snow goes for the rest of the year! No more snow!!!!
I hope you have a fabulous Saturday! Get some stamping in if you can! I plan to. Tonight we have front row tickets to the Harlem Globetrotters! I actually am sort of excited to go. I just hope they don't pull any of us out onto the court for one of their famous stunts!
Hugs,
Amy
This is beautiful! Have fun tonight!
ReplyDeletenonoNOnononoNO! *don't* rephrase that! i LOVE to hear someone--besides me--get excited when something turns out fabulously! & let's face it, girlfriend, this card IS magnificent!!! FACT! wooooooooow! it's even making *ME* wanna try that "white-on-white embossing & then inking it afterwards" technique! and since i'm emphatically NOT a technique gal...this is quite a miraculous card in every sense!!! :)
