Getting Ready For Grads

This weekend at the retreat I took a few minutes to design two different graduation cards that I'll be making over the next few months until the graduation season hits hard. I'll be making these cards in school colors by special order.

While I like how these cards turned out, you can't really see all the details on the card due to the nature of the photograph. Bummer!

On this first one, I took the "congratulations" sentiment in the set and stamped it all the way around the edge of the red cardstock, in Real Red ink. On the black panel, I stamped the "bravo" sentiment from the set all over in black, but alas, it disappeared!!! Grrrrr! So really, this card looked cool before all the ink dried up and disappeared!

The stars are from the Verve Visual set called Polka Stars, which I have gotten so much use out of it's silly! You can use these stars for any type of card! Aren't the stars a PERFECT compliment to the Shakespeare sentiment "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves". I am really pleased with the layout of this card, but I just wish all the elements would have worked out! It just means back to the drawing board to figure out how to make everything more apparent on the card. If you have ideas, let me know!

The second card is also not photographing well either. This time, on the black panel, I stamped stars from Verve's Seeing Stars set, but they disappeared to! Is there a black ink that doesn't disappear on black cardstock? I'll have to do a little experimenting on that, LOL. You can barely make out the stars I stamped all the way around the red border either.

The good news is you can see the word "grad" really well. It was stamped on the black cardstock with Whisper White craft ink, and then outlined with my Stardust gel pen. The scalloped G logo was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink and then punched out with my scallop punch.
I think this grad card is a winner, so I plan on making it one of the cards I mass produce for graduation card buyers! Over the next few weeks I'll be coming up with a few more grad card designs, so be on the lookout if you are searching for fun grad card designs, ok?

Well, I've got to get ready for bible study. It's been a crazy week. I had a tv buy that came down late Tuesday afternoon that needs to be on the air Thursday. Do you know what that means? No play time for me {insert sad face}. The hubby is sick, sick, sick, so I'm doing my best to stay as far away from him as I can so I do NOT get infected. I seriously do NOT need to get his bronchial infection because that would land me in the hospital and I do NOT want to spend any amount of time there whatsoever!
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Amy

As for the black on black, I first thought of versamark, but maybe if you embossed with clear EP? Just a thought.
