Triumph Tuesday

I altered a recipe box yesterday to hold scripture cards that I want to memorize. I plan on participating in the Bible Verse Challenge started up by a few of the blogger girls (I don't remember who started it, but I know Taylor of Taylored Expressions is participating.) They post a scripture on the 8th of every month.

I bought my recipe box at the Dollar Store! Gotta love that. This is what it looked like prior to altering. It actually isn't too ugly, is it? LOL. I covered it in some of my favorite new paper by My Minds Eye. It's their Confetti collection. It's scrumptious and every darn piece in the collection makes me smile and feel happy! I applied the paper to the box using Modge Podge. For the cards that will go inside, I used large sized plain index cards as my base, and then just added a bit of color using more My Minds Eye. I got the idea for the tab and ribbon at the top from Jami--thanks Jami!

As you all know, I've had a tough week. I am feeling like God has abandoned us. I know it's not true, it's more likely I've abandoned Him. But the other day as I was sitting in front of my computer blurfing, a bible verse came to me that I know God put on my heart for a reason. It was "Pray without ceasing", 1 Thessalonians 5:17. God knows I need to fine tune my prayer life, and begin to pray more earnestly and confidently, and expectantly. I sometimes think I will sound like a broken record if I pray too much about the same thing, but God doesn't care--if I'm NOT praying specifically, He's not hearing!!! Sure he knows what's in my heart and what's bothering me, but I need to put it into words for him and talk with him MORE!

This box is my first attempt at redefining my prayer life. I am so thankful he put this very special verse on my heart. I will listen and I will obey. I have no other choice. The card with this verse was the first one I made yesterday to go inside my box!

Here are the other two scripture cards I added to my new box as well. Aren't they puuuurrrrty??? I can't wait to add more cards as I find scripture that speaks to my heart.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my new scripture box. I had fun making it and sharing it with you. Havfe a great day! I have bible study today and I also get to have my haircut! Thank heavens, it's getting unruly!
Hugs,
Amy

  3. Hey Amy in MN! I just wanted to tell you that I read your blog often--both for inspiration in cardmaking and spiritually. I wanted to tell you that I think you are an amazing woman--always sharing your faith in such a public way. Just think of how many eyes read your words on a daily basis. Many of which you don't even know (like me!) You are an insiration, and I do love the scripture box. I need to revitalize my prayer life as well--I'm really struggling in that area lately. Anyway, thanks for sharing, and God bless your walk.

  7. No, God has not abandoned you. There may be some lessons you need to learn (remember we only grow in the "valleys" not on the "mountaintops"), or perhaps He wants to grow your faith for a season. One thing we can be sure of is that "All things work together for good to those who love Him & are called according to His purpose..."

  9. you are doing a TON of good self-talk about what you're struggling with, and making time to memorize words to fight the enemy with is as great a strategy as praying more. one of my favorite verses in responding to the whisper of the enemy is psalm 119:41-42. he is the accuser of the brethren and a taunter, but that's all he can really accomplish if we recognize his voice. follow the advice of these verses and you will be TRIUMPHANT! how's doug?

What a great idea! I was wondering what I could do with all my Scripture memory cards... I was actually looking at Target for something and I guess this is why I didn't find anything. Have to check out my dollar store tomorrow!
    Thanks for the inspiration!

Amy - your box is beautiful and the verse on the front is one of my favorites. "Be still and know that I am God." I have such a hard time being still and listening. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. So many of us are feeling some of the same things you do, but you so eloquently put the feelings into words. You are in my prayers!

  14. Hey girlie, this box is AWESOME! I put one of these recipe boxes in my cart the other day and then put it back because I decided it was too much work. LOL! Now you've made a STUNNING creation with yours, and I have to go back and get me one! :) So sorry that you're feeling so blah! Keep the faith, girl. It's gonna happen - and when it does it'll knock your socks off. :)

  19. Amy, this is so beautiful! What a great idea. Several years ago I made up for friends a small box (undecorated) of 31 index cards in that were intended to be daily prayers to say on behalf of our children. I'm going to have to dig those out and dress them up a bit and use them as a basis for my own prayers!

  21. What an amazing idea! I think I might present an idea like this to our mom's morning out group! I saw these recipe boxes at Michael's but only thought about them as 'altered' recipe boxes - a scripture box would be perfect! Thanks for the bright cheery inspiration :)
