A Weekend Escape

See these chicky's? This is the clan of women I went to high school with way back when. It's our annual get-together this weekend at the cabin. I'm so excited to get away and spend time with just the girls. No boys allowed! I think there will be 8 of us total that can make it. The cabin we stay at is in reality a lake home, it's beautiful! We'll eat lots of good food, tell funny stories of days gone by, and I'm guessing there'll be a snowball fight or two.

If you remember, I posted this picture of us girls this past summer when we all got together to celebrate an anniversary. One of the girls in our group hates crafting (can you guess which one? If you guessed it's the gorgeous one in the blue top in the front row, you'd be right!!!), so we were teasing her that night at dinner that when we had our little get-together, we were going to share a little craft time together! She was mortified! "No crafts!", she screamed. Well, I just couldn't let the weekend go by without following through on my little threat, can I? {insert evil grin}.

At the last minute yesterday, I came up with a craft that will be really simple, require taking minimal supplies, but it's something that even Laurie will appreciate when she's done with it. We're making nugget tins!!!! Here's the one I designed for the girls to make....
Easy peasy, uh? I have to spend today getting everyone's craft pack made up so we're ready to go once craft hour occurs at the cabin.....tee-hee. I also have to go to the grocery store to get the ingredients for the appetizer I'm bringing for our Saturday night appetizer dinner. I found this recipe on-line before New Years Eve, and made it for our get together that night. Can I just say this recipe is d' BOMB?????!!!!!! Here is the link for Baked Cream Cheese in Puff Pastry just in case you're in need of a worthwhile appetizer recipe for your collection. Oh my goodness, it was to die for!!!!! This recipe got rave reviews from all the guests. You serve it along with crackers. It was as good cold as it was hot, which is a plus since appetizers are typically nibbled on all night long...

The card I'm sharing with you today is one I made last weekend. As you know, I'm focusing this year on using up the supplies I already have on hand instead of buying more, more, more. The paper was from my scrap drawer, and it's paired with an embossed medallian (I'm not sure that's what this floral embossed image is....) from my Cuttlebug collection. The sentiment is from one of Verve's newest sentiment collections called Heartfelt Phrases. These new sentiments were released earlier in December. Julee does such a great job with sentiments, doesn't she? The layout on this one is so simple, yet so elegant!

Well, the troops are officially back to school as of yesterday. What a peaceful day we had! The hubster and I got a bunch of holiday decorations taken down, and I even snuck in a few cards in too! Since I'll be out of town this weekend, no more posts until Monday! Boo-hoo. I hope you all have a great weekend, filled with everything good.

Hugs,
Amy
