We Had A Blast!!!

Our girls weekend in Pierz, MN was a blast! I'm so thankful I have these amazing women in my life--we don't see each other a lot, but when we do get together, we have a great time!

As usual, our weekend was filled with tons of laughs and tons of yummy food! We played Guitar Hero, Imaginiff (a great board game), broomball out on the lake (I was the game photographer, so I didn't have to play!), took walks, participated in crafts (the nugget tin was enjoyed by all), vegged out in front of the fire, did manicures/hand massages, and laughed, giggled and enjoyed each other's company for a full 24 hours! I mean, come on, does it get any better? Hanging out with the girlfriends eating and laughing? It did me a world of good to get away from home for a little while, and away from the worries of unemployment.

Here are some of the photos I took from our weekend....

These are the girls, after they completed their nugget tins. I was so proud of ALL of them, even Craft-Phobic Laurie, (she's wearing the yellow sweater).....she was a trooper the whole way through! Thanks Laurie! You guys did a great job on your tins!
Here we are playing broomball on the lake....it was a gorgeous weekend, it was in the 30's. That's a heatwave in January in MN! I had a blast taking these action shots-it was so much fun to see a bunch of 40-something year old chicks sliding across the ice like a bunch of hockey players....and it wasn't a powder puff game, these girls were physical!
Here's a picture of Angie, Laurie, Mary and Julie. Are these girls hotties or what?

Of course, I just had to take this picture of an ice house for all of you that have never experienced winter before. This is where hard-core MN ice fisherman spend their winters...sitting in little shacks like this one watching an 8-inch hole at their feet! Usually, they have propane heaters inside keeping them warm. So not my cup of tea....
This shot was taken during our walk across the lake yesterday morning. Yes, we walked on the lake. I have NEVER enjoyed walking on a lake in the middle of winter because I have a severe paranoia that I am going to fall through the ice and freeze to death. The ice on this lake was 17 inches thick (so Lisa says), so we were completely safe. But as you walk across the lake, you'll see these great big, long cracks in the ice and your like "Whoa......, I'm gonna fall in". It makes cracking sounds as you walk across it, even at 17 inches thick! At one point, Lisa V. and I were walking along next to each other and all of a sudden we hear a "pop", and the ice had cracked right at our feet!!!!!!!!! Now, MY paranoia is understandable, I don't live on a lake and rarely walk on a frozen lake. But Lisa, who was endlessly giving me grief because of my paranoia, even jumped when she heard the crack!!!!!! She was being SO smug out there harassing me.......turns out she's just as big a baby as me (well, maybe not quite as big a baby as me, but I realized she's not as brave as she's trying to make herself seem....LOL!)
I hope you enjoyed peeking in on our fun weekend. I just want to say "thanks" to all my wonderful girlfriends--I treasure you so much and am so thankful you are in my life! I am thankful that, after all these years, we still share such a tight bond with each other. I am thankful that, even though I don't see any of you on a day to day basis anymore, when we do get together, it's as if we've never been apart. There's a comfort level between these women that defies time and distance, and for that, I give thanks today. I love you guys!

Hugs,
Amy

Although I have still not gone to the "crafting" side, the tin project brought me back to the brownie days of old where my troop leader pretty much did everything for us, but we got to take credit. I love this part of you Amy and really don't hate it as much as I say I do. Love to you!
