A Few Things....

I had to take some time today to show you the RAK's I received late last week from my blogging friends.

The first one I got was from Jacki Jones at the Card Castle. Not only did she send me this adorable card, she sent me a CD of Christmas songs that she and her husband recorded THEMSELVES! Oh my goodness, these two human beings have fabulous voices! What a blessing the two of them are together, sharing their talent with others! I would have taken a picture of the actual CD, but it's in my car right now and it's too cold to go out there and get it! So, you'll have to take my word for it when I tell you it was such a treat to recieve this musical gift! Thank you Jacki!!

The second card I received was from the Blog Goddess herself, Allison Fillo! Is this card not one of the cutest you've seen in a long time? I love the non-traditional holiday colors Allison used for her card, light pink and light blue! So cute! Thank you Allison, for thinking of me. Keep an eye on your mailbox too!

I wanted to take a picture for you of those new Inkadinkado bird stamps I bought at Archiver's last week. Just so you know what to be on the lookout for should you want to buy them for yourselves! If you can believe it, this set of clear stamps was only $11.99. A regular bargain if I do say so myself.

One more day of freelance work, and I'm hoping THEN I'll be able to get some stamping done. I need a stress reliever. This holiday season so far has not been all that enjoyable...too much sad in our lives right now with my hubby being unemployed and us trying to wade through the despair we feel because his Mom's gone now. I'm really feeling sad and overwhelmed. I need to get some perspective here on my situation, but it's so hard when you're sad, isn't it? I've been reading a fabulous book the past two nights (it's a small, fast read), called Christmas Blessings by Donna Van Liere. It's about a medical student, who years earlier lost his mother to cancer. The book explores his feelings about faith and sacrifice, and most of all, the ability to love others through grief and sadness. And it touches on how all of us are put on this earth for a purpose, and it's up to us to figure out what that purpose is. It's a tear jerker, one of those books you won't be able to put down until you finish it. I highly recommend reading it this year if you can find it. It will be worth your effort, I promise.

Anyways, since I haven't gotten any stamping done, I thought I'd show this card that I made a month or so ago....it's not a Christmas card, but oh well! I hope you like it! Have a great day....it's time for me to get to work!

  1. Amy- My thoughts and prayers are with you. From past experience, the "firsts" are always painful following the passing of a loved one. That compounded with the loss of you husbands job must be horrible stress on your family. I commend you on how eloquently you are able to share your feeling. Certainly an important step towards healing. Sending you a big hug and lots of Christmas blessings!

  7. Such a fun bunch of cards you received! Hold your head up, you'll make it through the holidays. I remember our first Christmas after my father died. I was only 17 and it was a hard one for all of us. Now, we always mention some of our favorite holiday memories of when we were growing up and the funny things my dad did. Take care and have a very Merry Christmas!
