Trouble with Email

Hi everybody. I thought I'd put this out there to see is someone can help me. As of yesterday, I started having emails returned to me as undeliverable. Both the emails I sent were to HOTMAIL accounts. This is the message I received:

The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'SC-004 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. A block has been placed against your IP address because we have received complaints concerning mail coming from that IP address. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help. Email/network admins, we recommend enrolling in our Junk E-Mail Reporting Program (JMRP), a free program intended to help senders remove unwanted recipients from their e-mail list:

It just happened again when I tried to email Bethany Paull (It's Not All Black and White). This is the message I got back. Does anyone know what it means and why it started happening all of a sudden? And what I should do? Thanks!

    Hi

I had that happen to me awhile ago. My Server (Time Warner Cable) actually put my computer in 'quarentine' (sp)- I had gotten a virus from somewhere and my address was sending out tons of spam mail. Try running a virus scan- I know mine did not show up and I must have had it for a long time, because it fried my computer, had to get a new harddrive! Good luck!

  2. Did you try contacting their support line? It may be that some spammers are spoofing your email IP address so it looks like junk mail is being sent by your address to other people. If people have reported it, then that could be why they have blocked your IP.

  3. the spammers have gotten so smart-they can spoof your email as the person sending it and you will never know it unless things bounce back. I have gmail and it will show some spam as coming from me in my spam file for illicit stuff. there isnt all that much I can do about it, either. My old email that I had for over 10 years with a local ISP I had to stop because all emails I sent to anyone, came back and then I was blocked until I called a number. this happened so often-once or twice a week-and my ISP did nothing to help. Try getting a gmail account for blog stuff-I can send you an invite. At least you will see who may be using your emails and be able to defend yourself. Some people also have spam software that you have to opt into. My hubby works at a Major Corp. and even his mail is getting rejected by people he normally corresponds with. but he was able to get thru with gmail. Yahoo and HOtmail are the big targets for spammers because there is no one watching them

  5. Also, most ISPs dynamically assign IP addresses. You may currently have an IP address that was used previously by a spammer. If you have a router, try re-booting it to try to get a new IP addy. As a next step, call your ISP :)

okay...i've just been thru this with my ISP...i agree with the other posts that you could have a virus, more specifically a trojan or a highjacker. if you are able, go to your ISP provider's website and logon to your account to check your bandwidth usage...specifically your 'upstream' (outgoing from your network) because it should be way way lower than your downstream. mine were almost equal!! i have a wireless network at home that wasn't secure and thought someone might be tapping in, so securing the network was my first hurdle, followed by getting the wireless laptop and xbox using the new 'secure' router. that didn't completely solve the problem and I got another warning from my ISP. so i actually restored the desktop back to factory settings (after backing up my important files to an external hard drive because this deletes EVERYTHING). i think that has fixed it but i suspect i had a virus...specifically a trojan which virus checkers will not always catch. my ISP sent me some links for various virus and trojan checkers which have since run clean. Bottom line, this could be your problem!...
