Scrap Stash Saturday

It's here again. Scrap Stash Saturday. Your favorite day of the week here at Heartfelt Greetings. Like you, it's my favorite day of the week too. For some reason, I love putting this card together each week. It seems really easy to me, much easier than working with matchy-matchy paper has been for me lately! I don't know why that is, but it's the truth.

Here are the papers I pulled blindly out of my scrap drawer yesterday. Hmmmmm. Them are some interestin' papers now, aren't they? Hmmmm. None of them match. Hmmmm, none of them really share the same colors either. What's a girl to do?

Jump right in, I guess! I actually love how this card turned out, for some reason. There's definitely alot goin' on, but the final card makes me smile just looking at it. The purple sparkly paper has never been one of my favorites, but for some reason, I {{{{{heart}}}}} it on this card! It just jumps right out on top of the gold medallion paper, doesn't it?

Let's see, now I'll tell you where all the paper ended up. Obviously, you can see the gold medallion paper perfectly. It ended up as the main paper, and in the flower as well. The American Craft circle paper is matting the gold medallion paper and is also matting the sentiment. The purple paper is the main center, and a flower was cut out of the purple paper also sits in the center of the Doodle This flower. The green and white polka dot paper is a little harder to find. I used it on a Doodle This flower (behind the gold medallion flower), AND as the matting for the purple main center...can you see it?

It's amazing what you can do with mismatched paper--I hope you give this a try one Saturday along with me! Don't be afraid of patterns that don't "go" together. I think maybe I like this feature so much because it gives me permission to throw the "rules" to the wind and just create for the sake of creating. Doing the challenge forces you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Remember, that's how you grow. Doing something that convential wisdom tells you you shouldn't do. Who really cares anyways? Every Saturday I prove that you CAN put any color and any pattern together for a cohesive look. It's just in the amounts you use and how you use them. Simple as that. Will you try it for me? Open your scrap drawer, pull out a few scraps without looking, and make a card. What's the worse than can happen? I promise the Creative Police will not break down your door and haul you away to the Loony Bin for Over Zealous Cardmakers. I promise.

Hugs,
Amy

I've heard whispers about the Creative Police and that they can take you to a BAD place, but I never heard anyone dare to name that place before!;) Scrap Stash Saturday is my favorite feature on your blog. I love to peek at the papers and try to imagine for a minute what you might do with them before I scroll down. You always amaze me. No one can put papers together as creatively as you! Thanks for the inspiration.

  4. Oh my gosh, I do believe Scrap Stash Saturday is one of my favorite theme's of all the blogs I visit. I am so standing inside a box and fear I'll never get out!!! You inspire me to at least try! I just received the new FREE set from SU (if you are a demo) and think that set might lend itself to this type of challenge. I am going to give it a try, somewhere in my garage is a huge case of paper I bought years ago for scrapbooking that I never got to. It is all randomly thrown together (as opposed to all the matching SU paper that is organized by color in my house). So I think I am just going to have to get brave and dig out that paper that has been relegated to the land of misfit toys (a.k.a. the garage). You inspire me!

  7. Amy, you are a brave woman. This weeks papers are pretty wild. I love scrap stash saturday. I try to mix my paper brands like I mix my brand of clothes and shoes. I never wear all the same brand head to toe so why would I that on a card?
