Makeover Monday

This little makover project came to me after I received some cork coasters from my SIL (who found them while cleaning through my MIL's things after she passed away). Jayne put them to the side for me thinking I could use them on the deck during the summer. Only thing is, I don't like the design on the coasters! It really isn't "me", if you know what I mean. So I immediately thought I could cover them with designer paper and give them a whole new look!

This is how the coasters looked before their transformation....

And here's how they looked after I covered them with my brand new My Mind's Eye Festive Signature Christmas paper! I used Modge Podge to adhere the paper to the coaster and then gave them another coat of MP to seal the paper, so water wouldn't penetrate and ruin them. No stamping on the coasters, I couldn't figure out how to add any with such busy patterns. There are 4 coasters, and I used a different pattern from the collection for each coaster. I made a little 3x3 gift card to go with the coasters, using the same paper and adding a little bit of stamping to the front of the card. What an easy little gift to give someone over the holidays. Everyone can use extra coasters, don't you think? I definitely can!

We had a very busy weekend here at the Westerman household. Youngest son had three days of basketball. The Hubster got the Christmas lights up yesterday because it was gorgeous weather! It probably hit the low 60's, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Anyways, we always try and get the lights up when it's not FREEZING COLD, so yesterday was the day. Mind you, we don't turn the lights on until the night of Thanksgiving. But if there's no snow by then, we might wait until we get some to turn on the lights. It just isn't the same having your Christmas lights on with no snow in sight. I know, most states don't get snow, so you don't know what I'm talking about. But there really isn't anything quite as serene and beautiful as Christmas lights illuminating the snow surrounding them! Trust me!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Amy

AMy - beautiful coasters. Love the simplicity and the paper is just perfect for it.....I know what you mean about snow. One of my desires is snow on Christmas Eve...you would think living in Maine we would get that.....but usually it either hits in November and is gone by then and/or blasts us starting in mid January. At least for all the snow we get in a winter you would think some of it could fall for Christmas.

  9. What a beautiful gift! I got this paper and haven't had the "nerve" to cut it up yet because I don't want to cover it up! Just beautiful. Mark isn't handy so we don't do Christmas lights, but I REALLY wish we did. I love seeing the lights reflect off the snow.
