God Is Good

I’m Thankful for You
Thanksgiving is the appointed time for focusing
on the good in our lives.
In each of our days,we can find small blessings,
but too often we overlook them,
choosing instead to spend our time
paying attention to problems.
We give our energy to those who cause us trouble instead
of those who bring peace.
Starting now, let’s be on the lookout for the bits
of pleasure in each hour,
and appreciate the people who bring love and light
to everyone who is blessed to know them.
You are one of those people. On Thanksgiving,
I’m thankful for you.

Yes, I'm thankful for all of you, because each and every one of you brings love and light into my life via this blog! You have blessed me much more than I have blessed you. You are the sisters I never had (a big hug going out to my lifelong "sister", Chrissy Bostic in Idaho!!!)! Each of you has helped me grow into a stronger, happier woman this year, and I am so thankful you found your way here to my blog. I wish God's blessings on all of you.

Yesterday, an angel from God stepped into our lives. An anonymous person from my BSF leadership group left an envelope on the materials table yesterday with my name on it. It said "open later". I opened the card when I got out to my car. I assumed it was a sympathy card from one of the other leaders. Instead, what I found was a substantial financial contribution for my family. I don't think I need to tell you that I was overwhelmed to the point of tears. That someone, in service to Christ, would reach out in service to another human being in this way is mind boggling to me. It shouldn't be, this is what Christ calls us to do with our lives...serve others. But this angel gave me more than just money yesterday. She taught me a huge lesson about giving and serving others, for God's glory, not for personal recognition.

We learned about this sort of giving last week in our BSF lesson, but this week, I got to see the message God gave us last week up close and personal. This angel doesn't want any personal thanks for what she did, although I want to give it. She wants all the glory to go to Him. She realizes that she was just the vehicle through which God could show his mighty work in our lives. God rewards the smallest act done in private. The smallest act done in private out of pure love for Him ensures God's future reward for all of us. What an amazing message. We are not to do good works for earthly recognition, but for heavenly recognition!
What a message this holiday season.

Hugs,
Amy

Amy, People have done that for us throughout our leaner years and I understand the blessing that comes from that....for both sides; the giver and recipient. I am amazed and mesmerized by God's goodness and love towards each of us....He shows it in just the way we need to see it.
May you continue to experience the miracles He has for you in each and every day life.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Beautiful card, too. One of my favorites you've done.

Thank you for sharing your story! At a time when it is so easy to get soured on commercialized holidays, this sort of story renews one's faith in the goodness of people and in hope for our future.

  18. What a beautiful testimony, Amy! BSF sisters are so wonderful---God speaks so strongly through His Word, and when we listen, we can't help but act! I put BSF on my gratitude list on my blog this morning. :)

  19. You know, you really are blessed. The person who gave you the money is really an angel. Having been on both sides I've got to say it feels great to know that I've helped someone. When the time comes (and it will) you need only pay it forward. You do what you can and it comes back to you tenfold.
    Happy Thanksgiving.
