Bird-Day!

Morning peeps! Sorry I missed bloggin' yesterday. It's closing in on my busiest time of year for my freelance work. Yesterday I had meetings in the office all day, this morning I have two more meetings, and Monday I have SIX meetings. Uff-da. But the good news is that we're starting the process earlier this year so the December crunch might not be so bad. That is a very GOOD thing!

Here's a card I made last weekend, which I think is so cute! I borrowed Wild About You from my girlfriend a few weeks ago and finally used it to make this. Believe it or not, I came up with the idea to put the birdy on the elephant's back all by myself, but then upon searching the SCS gallery realized it was NOT such an original idea!!!!

The first thing I did was stamp the elephant in the middle of the paper. Then I masked in the oval "grounding" for underneath the big guy. I decided to make the oval a rug, so I drew in scallops all the way around the oval so it looks like a rug instead of just a great big oval under his feet!

The hat comes from a stamp I have from Stampendous. I just stamped it on a piece of the coordinating background paper I used, cut it out and adhered it to the big guys head using dimensional tape. The little bird was stamped right on the back of the elephant. Isn't he the cutest little thing? The sentiment is from A Muse (I think...it's pitch dark in my office as I'm typing this post and I don't feel like turning on a light to so see who makes it!). Couldn't resist sewing the elephant image to the card using my Janome sewing machine. If you don't have one of these little gems for yourself yet, consider putting it on your Christmas list this year. It is the best $40* I've spent in a long time (*I bought mine on sale).

What else is going on in blog world out there? I feel so removed from my blog lately. I am still finding it a challenge to get any stamping done, which is NOT a good thing. And I'm finding it hard to be witty, too. And the card mojo has NOT returned one little bit. I'm starting to worry about how difficult I'm finding it to make any cards whatsoever. I feel like my brain literally shuts down the minute I try and come up with anything original. Do you think it's some sort of depression setting in? I feel like I have so much do to but no time to do it in. I've had no long stretches to stamp. What I am getting done is being completed in short, quick increments of time. No long, luxurious stretches of time to just sit at my desk and create. I don't see any change in that in the foreseeable future either. Next week will be just as crazy as this week. What's a girl to do? Take a deep breath to start with, I guess.

Anyways, enough whining. Tonight we have our high school football playoff game. The boys are home today from school because it's the end of the quarter. We'll head to the game with a plethora of blankets, hats and mittens because it will be COLD again tonight. I've been bringing a sleeping bag to all the games and just plopping myself into that....man, do I stay nice and toasty!

No job yet for hubby. He's done a lot of networking, but no solid leads yet. We sold his car and he now drives his mom's car. That saves us a big chunk of money each month, which helps us with the COBRA benefits we're having to pay. He's cramping my style a bit, being underfoot all the time, but I'm sure he enjoys it about as much as I do. I know he wants to get back to work and would gladly leave for the day if he had someplace to go! At least he helps keep the place clean!

Be sure and check out the Verve blog over the next few days for some sneak peeks at the NEW stamp sets being released on November 10th! My oh my, you are going to LOVE these two sets!! I honestly have had a BLAST playing with them. They are so versatile!!!! Check out Shannan's sneak peek today....she ROCKED it out peeps!

Hugs,
Amy

  7. I'm sorry I don't know what business you're in, but put that husband of yours to work and free up some time for stamping ;)

I've been making a lot of cards and feeling a kind of slump too. I took a step back for a few days, bought some new stamps, and tried a new card base. (ie gate fold or horizontal instead of regular verticle A2 cards).

Take a break and do something different. Read a book, crochet or knit, or __________. You are a busy lady, with a lot of chores. Don't pressure yourself to make cardmaking/ blogging a chore too.
    We'll still be here.
