Makeover Monday

(vertical file album photo courtesy of Doodliedoo)

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to win some blog candy from Julie Brooks. Guess what I won? A vertical file album from Julie's on-line store called Doodliedoo!!! Wow, was I shocked to read the news, I never win anything. I was a little blue the day I found out I won, so imagine what a day lifter finding this out was!!! A big {{{{{hug}}}}} is going out to Julie right now for this wonderful blog candy! Thanks Julie!

I think I started altering the album 10 minutes after it came in the mail! Not kidding! I knew exactly what paper I was going to cover it with.....Webster's Pages! I had received my Webster's order from Verve Visual the day before, and I had been itching to start playing with it.

Now, the one thing I didn't have, unfortunately, in order to get started on my vertical file album was 6x6 scrapbook pages/page protectors. What a bummer! That's what is designed to be used with this particular vertical album (the vertical album also comes in 8x8 and 12x12 sizes as well at Doodliedoo). But since I was determined to start AND finish this album the same day, I made four chipboard pages instead to hang from the rings! I decorated both sides of the chipboard with paper, so a total of 8 photos can be displayed from my vertical file album.

I started the project by covering the whole album with my new Webster's Pages paper. I used a pattern called Pear Blossom, which I think is absolutely stunning! I covered the base of the album and the vertical sides using Pear Blossom. I stained all the still visible wood on the vertical file using my Rangers Distress Ink in Walnut. For fun, I covered the edges of both the base and the vertical sides with some VINTAGE trim that I found at a flea market a few years ago. It's absolutely beautiful navy blue trim. What a perfect fit with the Pear Blossom paper!

As I mentioned earlier, I covered each chipboard page with paper. You know me, I'm not afraid to mix and match lots of different patterns together, so I pulled out some more Webster's Pages patterns to play with! In all, I used Bachelor Button, Tranquility, Nature's Way, and Full Bloom! The only thing I did to tie all the different patterns together was use Pear Blossom on each chipboard page, which in turns ties each page to the actual vertical file, which was covered with Pear Blossom. Does that make sense? I adhered a photo to each chipboard page, and also used some rub-ons to personalize each page as well.

I am in love with how the vertical file album turned out! The Webster's Pages papers is absolutely luscious and so much fun to play with! I hope Brandin and Terri realize what they got themselves into when they chose me for their design team! I'm a girl with an insatiable appetite for playing with GORGEOUS papers, the more patterns the merrier, in my opinion! Fun, fun, fun!

These vertical file albums from Doodliedoo are so much fun! I can't wait to add more photos to my file! The Webster's Pages paper makes them look so awesome! I highly encourage all of you to consider making one of these cool albums for yourself, or better yet, what about making Grandma and Grandpa one of these for Christmas? Wouldn't they just adore having one of these on display for all their friends to see? Grandparents LOVE showing off their grandkids, and this is just they way they can do it in STYLE! Go visit Julie today over at Doodliedoo to buy one for yourself today!!

Have a great day!

Hugs,
Amy

I was going to ask, do you ever host or are you an instructor for any classes in the Twin Cities? I'd love to attend one (or more!) sometime! I love your style!
