Scenic Route

Boy, it was a quiet day here at Heartfelt Greetings yesterday....only 4 comments! I miss it when you guys are too busy to say hi!!!! I'm sure lots of you have jumped into the "back to school routine" this week and just don't have time to blog surf as much as you did this summer. My boys don't go back until the day after Labor Day, so I still have some time in my days to blog surf. I hope you'll all be back soon!

Well, I must confess. I'm in love with my Scenic Route papers. Usually, no matter what the pattern, I'm a fan. The paper I used on today's card is no exception. I've not used it before, but I ordered it online a few weeks ago at the same time I ordered my favorite Scenic Route bird paper from the Laurel line. This is also from the Laurel line. It's called Marina Drive.

I cut a decorative edge on the Marina Drive paper and then placed a strip of Bashful Blue behind it, just to make the blue in the stars pop out a little more. Then I sewed a small horizontal strip of Purely Pomogranate near the lower bottom of the card front. Next I stamped Mr. Birdy (Hero Arts) on a piece of Paper Accents Pearlized cardstock and painted him with SU inks in Purely Pomogranate, Old Olive and Bashful Blue. I punched the bird out using my 1 3/8 inch circle punch. Then I mounted Mr. Birdy on a SU Bashful Blue circle scallop. For a little dimension, I punched another BB circle scallop and placed dimensional tape on the back of the scallop and then laid this scallop on top of Mr. Birdy, turned cock-eyed so the scallops from the circle below showed through. I used my Signo White Gel pen to make the white polka dots on the top of the scallop.

I think I'll definitely use this layout again for other cards. It's very simple!

There's still time for those of you who haven't gotten your BUSINESS CARD entries in yet! You've got til midnight Saturday evening to send me an email with your links. So far, the entries that've come in are AMAZING! Don't be left out of the fun, sit down and work on YOURS today! Or, if you don't need a business card for yourself, maybe there's someone you know that needs one. Come on, play along! This is an easy contest compared to some of the contests out there in blogland. And, the even better news is that I don't any where near as many entries for my contests as some of the more POPULAR bloggers, so your chances of winning are fabulous! I'll leave you today with two more cards I made up last weekend, these aren't my favorites, but I thought I'd show you anyways in case they spark an idea in you!

Have a great day today! Eldest Son has his 11th grade registration day this morning to finalize his schedule and get his photos taken for the yearbook and his school ID. Both boys are in denial that summer vacation is almost over and that it's time to crack the books again. As much as they both enjoy school for the social aspects, the educational aspect is much less appealing to them! Can't say I was any different at their age.....

Update on Muriel and my Mom. My mom had her post surgery appt yesterday. She is finally feeling better, she is not experiencing as much pain anymore. Every morning she woke up she had these terrible pains in her chest and would have to rush to take her meds. The last few days that's subsided. I hope she's on the upswing now. Muriel was moved to a short term rehabilitation hospital early last week. A huge source of her depression and frustration stems from not being able to communicate her needs. So, I sat down and made some alphabet letters with my alpha stamps, and put pieces of magnetic striping on the back. Then I bought a magnetic white board, and put the letters on that. Now Muriel has a way to communicate with us that is really simple! She's got the strength now to be able to move the letters around. She even wrote with the whiteboard marker that was attached to the board!

Hugs,
Amy

I am so happy to hear some good news about Muriel. It sounds like you are very busy these days, just like the rest of us. Aren't the ebbs and flows of life great? You never know what's around the corner. I don't post comments often but I do check in every day to see what you are up to. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself, keep up the wonderful work! 4. Love the card. Bought the pearlized CS after seeing it shimmer behind the birdie. What a great idea to do business cards. Hope more people will post their examples.
