{Caardvarks} Four Square Submission

Well, Blogger is being difficult today--it doesn't want to let me input a title for today's post. I had read on a few other blogs that this was happening, but it hadn't done it to me yet. Until today. Oh well. Not a biggy. (Special Note: Ahhhhh-ha! I just outwitted Blogger! I saved this post, and then went into Edit! Then Blogger let me type in the title! I LOVE outsmarting computers!!!)

IF I could have input a title for today's post, it would read "{Caardvarks}Four Square Submission". That's the kind of card I needed to make yesterday. The card needed to feature four squares on the front. It's getting harder and harder the more days we go through. Today is the 5th day of {Caardvarks} 10 Day-10 K Challenge, and for today's card we need to include FIVE embellishments on the front of the card. Yikes-a-rooni. That's alot. The fine line will be including the five embellishments without making the card look too busy. I need to put my thinking cap on for this one!

I love how my Four Square card turned out. My base card (the white) is actually from a package of pre-made cards I bought at Michael's. Using some new Autumn Leaves/Rhonna Farrer paper as my inspiration, I proceeded to cut four squares out of the paper and then matted two with Rose Red cardstock and two with Pumpkin Pie cardstock. I laid those four squares front and center on the white card base. Since I love my Hero Arts birdies so much, I hauled them out and started stamping. First I stamped them on some Pearlized White paper by Paper Accents (I got it from Verve!). This stuff is sooooo spaaaarkly. Then, I stamped each bird again on three different designer papers. I just cut up the birds on these different designer papers and started piecing them onto the Pearlized White birdies to give them a little color!

I wanted to use my new Amuse sentiment "A little bird told me" with this card, but I needed to come up with a unique way to use it since the layout was a little funky. So, I thought my birdies could be holding a banner in their beaks while fluttering through the air! So cute! I don't have a sentiment that "goes with" the Amuse stamp, so I found one of my Impression Obsession stamps that says "It's Your Day" and thought that would work perfectly. I wanted to use the other two birdies on the card as well, so I decided I would have them hold a banner that says "Enjoy". I drew this sentiment by hand to make it look like the Amuse sentiment. Not bad.

So fun! I love the brightness of this card, it's another one of those that make me happy just because of the color! The competition is fierce for this 10 Day-10K Challenge....I'm not feeling good about my chances. But then again, that's not why I'm doing this. I'm just doing it for fun. And for experience. And because I want to be one of {Caardvarks} design team girls someday (hint, hint....are you reading this Jen?)! Wouldn't that be fun?????? I would love a chance to interpret Jen and Sarah's weekly sketches. I am fortunate in that I get to be a Guest Designer sometime in the near future because I won one of their challenges a little while back! Lucky me!

Well, I sent off Eldest Son this morning to church camp again. This will be his third week up there. The first was when we went as a family at the beginning of June. His second week was for High League Season Opener. This morning marks his third week, and he will be a counseler for for the first time (the campers will be 3/4 graders)! We're so exicited for him! This is something he (and we) have been looking forward to for a long time (he's been going for a week every summer since the summer entering 3rd grade!). The campers will leave next Saturday, but Eric will stay through the weekend because NEXT week will be his FOURTH week up there! For that week, he'll be on the Workstaff. The Workstaff takes care of kitchen duty, lawn mowing, watering plants, etc. He'll be up there doing that for another full week. All in all, he's gone from today (July 9th) through July 23rd!!!! I'm going to miss him!!!!!! Since he'll be turning 16 next Saturday, I'm pretty sure I'll be driving up to camp to see him and take him out for some pizza to celebrate and give him a big hug!
