I've got another sewed pocket card to share with you today! I almost prefer sewing down my designer paper instead of gluing it. The paper is so smooth and tight on the card after you've sewed it. It looks incredibly sharp, I must say!
I'll keep things short and sweet today as yesterday's post was a little long winded. I hope some of you out there dusted off your sewing machines yesterday and made a card or two. On this card, I just sewed a scrap piece of designer paper (by Crate) to a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I glued on a little scallop piece of Basic Grey/Stella Ruby paper to accent the black Crate paper near the top of the pocket opening.
I really wish you could see the card in person. The flowers, from In Full Bloom, were first embossed in gold, and then watercolored with my aquapainter. The colors I used were So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, and Bashful Blue with a touch of Ballet Blue thrown in for good measure. Whoops, can't forget I used Old Olive for the leaves too. You can't see it very well, but I embossed one of the swirls from Doodle This in gold directly onto the designer paper to serve as my "vine" for the flowers. When I was done cutting the flowers out, I glued them onto the front of the card, making sure that the embossed "vine" showed through the flowers. The "happy birthday" sentiment is embossed in gold and matted with metallic gold cardstock.
The inside card is distressed with Tea Dye Ink by Ranger (I just rub my sponge over the surface of the paper in circular motions), and then I stamped more swirls in gold around the corners of the card. A sentiment verse is stamped right in the middle in Basic Black.
The card is so elegant, I wish you could see it. It was alot of work cutting out all the flowers, so I can't imagine I'll make more than one of these puppies!
On the homefront, it's been a really gross weather for spring break. The boys are so bored being stuck inside. We were suppposed to get snow, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it missed us! I think today I'll bring the boys to see a movie. They need to get out of the house and have some fun!
Have a great day!
LOVE THIS!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card...the colors are wonderful together. And yes, last night as I was drifting off to sleep I was thinking about card designs using my sewing machine. Of course this could be a rather comical adventure since I don't have a clue how to sew, even though I owe a tiny little machine! Perhaps I'll post my creations so everyone can have a good laugh! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove all the papers you mix together and it always turns out fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see this card in person - it's absolutely stunning!! My birthday is coming up LOL ;-)
