Carl 12"/A4 Personal Trimmer S.O.S!!!

S.O.S!!!!

Does anyone have experience with this trimmer? I bought one a few days ago, and I am having the darndest time with it. I was wondering if there are some "tricks" to working with it. One specific question I have though, is if the plastic paper/holder bar thingy lifts up, or is it stationary? It's the first time I've worked with a rotary trimmer, so I'm having some fits with it. Please help me if you can! Thanks!

  1. Sorry girl, wish I could help! You aren't having any luck with trimmers lately are you? Well, whether your cards are cut straight or not, I'll still love 'em!

I have the 15" Carl cutter that I LOOOOVE! It took a little getting used to and is quite big, but I love the way it cuts so it's worth it. I'm guessing the bar you're talking about is the clear blue one that you slide the paper under. Mine is stationery. Either that or maybe your talking about the silver bar that the actual blade is attached to...that doesn't lift up either. It's very difficult to cut pieces smaller than about 2". I use my smaller trimmer for those. HTH...

  3. Mine is stationary and I wish it wasnt, but it cuts so well, that I let it go. It sometimes gets gunky under it, and I have no idea of how to clean it off. I do have a small cutterpede for doing itty bitty stuff under a few inches tho.

Amy--I have the 12" Carl heavy duty trimmer. I'd be happy to talk with you voice to voice to see if I can help you with what's perplexing you. Cell phones are free on weekends! Email me at jenn@nahrstadt.com with your number and we can chat!

OY - I just lost everything I said. I'm not really sure I will be allowed to comment as I do not have a blog. Oh well, we shall see! I have all three Carl's cutters and I have had trouble with all of them. I've spoken personally to Sharon Wilde of Wilde-Ideas and still have trouble. She did tell me to always cut from top to bottom and hold down the guide so the paper doesn't slip. I have been having problems with personal cutters for several years and am thinking about purchasing a really expensive one that takes several months get receive (can you tell I can't remember the name!).

Hope it's okay to tell you here that I love your blog. You are truly gifted stamper. Thank you for being there for us.

Hi - I agree with what Cindee said. I love mine but for small objects I do use another trimmer. The bar is stationary and it is spring loaded so I just push down a bit and then cut from the top down. Hope you were able to figure it out. There are other cutting disks to fit the trimmer also.
