It's gloomy again today so I thought this blog needed some SUNSHINE! This card is so bright and colorful I couldn't help but feel happy inside, regardless of what I'm seeing outside my office window right now! I'm so affected by color, are any of you like that too? It's really weird how much it really does affect me. The presence of color can totally cheer me up, or, when there's a lack of color, I can be really uncomfortable and crabby. For example, in my house, there's lots of color! Nary a white wall in sight, with the exception of the upstairs hallway (and that's starting to get on my nerves too!). White walls make my skin crawl. There's no warmth, and to me, no sense of coziness. Other people's white walls don't bother me so much (that's honestly the truth) as white walls in my own living space!
Couldn't resist using my Hero Arts flower stamp again for this card. The paper (I think it's by Kaleidiscope. It's a scrap, so it's from before I started my paper journal). It's all these luscious, yummy colors like purple and orange and green......I had a piece of orange polka dot paper too that I laid horizontally across the front of the card, just for another colorful element. The flower is stamped with Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White, and then matted on Lovely Lilac. The center of the flower is a fabric brad that I bought on clearance a long, long time ago. The sentiment, also by Hero Arts, is mounted on a Cuttlebug scallop die. This card is proof that you don't always have to go overboard on your card designs to get a card worth looking at! A very kind someone is going to be receiving this card in the mail very soon....I hope they like it!!!!!
Today is going to be spent running a few errands, then getting ready for my retreat that I leave for tomorrow. I am so excited to get away, even if it is less than 10 miles from my house and for only one night. My kids are driving me crazy lately (am I a bad mom for admitting that?) and I need to get away from them for a little breather. They are constantly at each other's throats, which just makes for a tense atmosphere around the house. It's gotten worse lately, and I'm not sure what to do about it. My youngest thinks he's Second Mother In Charge around here, and I can't seem to make him to understand that is NOT his role in our family. He makes his older brother want to scream! They used to be much better friends than they are now. I told them last night that if this fighting continues, cell phones will be confiscated immediately. The phones are a priviledge, not a right. And if they can be used to motivate them to get along, I'm not above using them as my leverage tool. Motherhood. It's a battle sometimes, isn't it?

Wow! I love this idea for scraps. I am going to take a day and just get my scrap box out and make a whole bunch of these cards! I will use the SU "Doodle This" flower because I have to have that on almost every card I make right now! lol I'm in love with that set and so is everyone who has seen it. Thanks for the consistently lovely cards and inspiration.
ReplyDelete:)Have a happy day!

Lovely card Amy! It's one of those that makes you smile just looking at it!
ReplyDeleteIt is a bright and cheery card! Thanks for the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteYou are 100% right- the paisley paper is Kaleidoscope. I was just playing with the blue/ green version of that same paper last night.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cute card. I am not normally an orange person but I really like it on your card.

ReplyDeleteDefinitly a HAPPY card!!! Love the bright colors.
How old are your boys? I have 3 boys (20, 12 and 11). My middle one and the youngest are always at each other's throats about something and sometimes I just have to get away before I go nuts.
Ahhh, the joys of parenting!
Have a good evening!

I so agree with the colour issue... we moved into a very neutral house last summer, and I am about done with the boringness of our walls...
ReplyDeleteSo, what colour are all your walls in your house?? If you are as creative with your decorating as you are with your cards, then I am sure your home is very cozy!
Yummy card!!! I just love the bright colors.
ReplyDeleteI'm the LUCKY one! How excited was I when I got home from my trip and got this awesome card!!!! Thank you so very much! (I love all the wonderful images too...)
