Well, the new digs have officially been christened--I made my first card this morning! I needed to make a birthday card for the wife of one of my husband's co-workers.
She is turning 40 today and her husband has planned a surprise party for her tonight at a local restaurant. We get to go on a date, yippee! It's been a while since hubby and I have been out to a "real" function--it seems it's so rare we go anywhere "special" anymore. Sure, we do movies and stuff, but this will be something fun and different. I decided I didn't want to do a traditional "over 40", black birthday card...I don't know her well enough to do that, so I made something sweet and pretty instead. Basic Grey scraps were used for the block layout on the front of the card, and I used the birthday cake image from my new stamp set, Blooming with Happiness. I colored the flowers on the cake with my aquapainter and H20 paints. The image was distressed with Tea Dye ink stain on Very Vanilla to age it. I used my beloved Itty Bitty Background stamp around the edges of the image. It's matted with bronze/brown metallic cardstock. It's mounted to the front of the card with foam squares to make it pop up. Brown and pink polka dot ribbon finishes the card off perfectly. I hope you like it!
