There's an interesting forum thread taking place in the SCS General Forum the last few days. It's about blogger "etiquette". Should you put a link to someone else's blog on your blog without their permission first? That is the question. Apparently, there IS some "unspoken" etiquette out there that to be polite, you should ask the blogger first before putting their link on YOUR blog. Does that make sense? I think this whole forum discussion is going to cause all of us to run scurrying to all of the blogs we read and asking for permission to post their links on our site! I thought I'd let everyone know in advance that you definitely have my permission to put a link to my blog on YOUR blog!!!! Don't worry about asking my permission first. Since we blog in a public forum, I believe it shouldn't be necessary to do this, but that's just my personal opinion. I know others feel differently, and that's ok. I am flattered that someone would want to post a link to my site on their blog, I mean really, what does it hurt? What are your thoughts?

I agree with you! I don't think it's necessary to ask someone if you can post their link. I suppose if a person saw their link on someone's blog they could ask it to be removed. I find it flattering if someone links to me!!
ReplyDeleteTo me, if you didn't want to share your stuff, you wouldn't be posting it on world-wide internet. It isn't exactly the bulletin board at the local store where limited amounts of people will view it.
ReplyDeleteDo they think Google asks before it posts links? lol hardly! It's webcrawlers are all searching and posting every single link there is.
I've always had on mine that if you don't want to be listed to let me know, but no one has ever asked to be removed and I'm glad because that's my way of bookmarking and I use those links to visit.
I agree...if you have a public blog...I am assuming you want others to come and look. I am always pleased to find my link on someone's blog.
