New Tim Holtz Stamps.

A quick thanks to all of you for your well wishes. I have lived these last two days a little less stressed out, so that's a blessing! I start my new hours next Monday, so I'm hoping to get some good rest this weekend to gear up for the change.

In the meanwhile, I thought you'd appreciate seeing a card today...a change of pace for once:). I was pumped when I this cool set of clear acrylic stamps from Tim Holtz recently at Michaels, and that I got them for 40% off. Now that's a deal! I really love the set, it's called Flight of Fancy.

I started by designing this cool tag, which, if you know Tim Holtz at all, know that he is famous for his tags. Then I used the tag as the focal point for the front of the card. I stitched around the tag, and then mounted it on top of the designer paper by My Mind's Eye. The big daisy is from my SU Sissix die. I made the flower using the same designer paper as I used underneath the tag. I added a vintage button as the center of the flower and the card was complete. I love how it turned out, especially the colors. It's funs sometimes to use tags, if you never have, I encourage you to find one and give it a try. And if you can't find one, make one! We're craft people after all, it shouldn't be that hard!

Well, I am going to get a little bit of stamping done this morning before I have to leave for work. On a quick side note, I did find out a little bit of bad news yesterday....my brother was laid off from his job, which is a big, fat bummer. He only started it about 4 months ago after leaving a long time job with Target Corp. I am praying he will be able to find a new job in short order, but in this economy, you just never know. Also, my dad's prostate PSA levels increased significantly recently. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer a year or so ago, but the drs chose to just watch it as prostate cancer is very slow growing when it is detected late in a man's life. The number nearly doubled in three months this last checkup, so it is highly likely he will begin a radiation treatment program soon. We will know more next week after he meets with the oncologist. Can you believe it? God must think I'm really strong because there's been a whole lot of ugly going on in my life these past two years! Remember what they say, God never gives you more than you can handle....I just wish he didn't think I was so strong:). Have a great weekend friends!

Hugs,
Amy

  1. Isn't it something how much confidence God has in us?!!! I often wish the same thing...that he didn't have confidence in my ability to handle the trials...and still trying to be thankful for the trials as I know He's getting me where He wants me. So glad you have Him to rely on.

  3. That is actually one of my favorite sayings, "I just wish He didn't think I was so strong". I think it sums up a lot of things for a lot of people. I will be sure to send out some prayers.
Lovely card. I really like how you make the flower more elegant just by changing the color of paper and the center. Great job!!!

  4. Hey Amy,
This card is just beautiful. Love it.
I'm sorry to hear of your dad's PSA results. We've had that particular cancer, among others, in our family too....my brother. He is doing well, but must be checked on a very regular basis. How is your mom doing through this. Please let them know that your friends in cyberspace are praying for them, ok?

    God bless,
    barb

  12. Gorgeous card, Amy! I love the colors. Sorry to hear more bad news on the homefront. My FIL was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few years ago and his levels did a similar spike after the diagnosis. He had surgery, everything went smoothly, and his levels have been normal and he's been pain-free ever since.
