A Card and a Recap

This is one of the cards I made for my girlfriend who ordered 25 cards. 25 cards with no sentiments on the front I might add. Hmmmm, that was a tall order for me!!! I love my sentiments. This however, is one of the cards I made for her that I really liked and that I plan on making again for my own stash soon! Super-duper simple and super-duper spring like. I'm definitely wishin' for spring these days--it's been a looooong winter here. It's good though, because this week we are seeing temps in the high 30's! I can handle temps like this.

As you can see, I used some scraps from my favorite Basic Grey line, Urban Prairie. I can't throw a stitch of this stuff away, so you'll be seeing it alot in the coming months, I think! Kraft cardstock is so suitable for use with this paper line, it just lets the colors sing. I'm not sure where I got the stamp...it's fairly old, but I do love it's simplicity.

Thanks for all the warm wishes on being back. We had a great trip. As great as going to a funeral can be, I suppose. The funeral was wonderfully touching. There were three eulogies, and my hubby gave one of them. The other two were given by one of Ken's brothers, and one of Ken's commanding officers while he was serving in the USMC. Each eulogy allowed us a peek into a part of Ken's life that we might not have known about previously. The day was bright and sunny, and relatively warm...well, for a Minnesotan that is! Jayne and the boys are holding up amazingly well. Jayne was a rock for everyone else, of course. We were busy from the moment our plane touched down Wednesday evening until the moment it took off for home on Sunday. Ken's family is huge (he has 7 brothers and sisters), so it was a pleasure getting to know all of them as well. However, all the brothers look exactly alike, so it was freaky walking into Jayne's house on Wednesday...I thought I was seeing Ken again! Jayne's friends (Kathie, Elsbeth, Ruth, Anita, Candy, and Ann, to name just a few) rallied around Jayne and her whole family by providing homes to sleep in and amazing food to eat. I love all these ladies and consider them my friends as well. The sheer number of friends standing by Jayne, holding her up is really quite amazing, she is such a lucky woman. I have never seen anything like it in my life, honestly. The woman has never met a stranger.

Anyways, enough about all that. I am thankful we were able to fly out there for the funeral. Ken will be buried at Arlington National Cemetary on April 21st. I probably won't be able to go for that, but most likely Doug and his dad will be going. I totally wish I could though, what an experience that will be. Doug was able to take the boys to visit Arlington while we were there last weekend to show them where their Uncle Ken will be buried. I was glad they were able to see it since they won't be able to go to the burial ceremony. I've seen it before, so I stayed back at the house putting together the photo boards I made for the funeral. I made two huge boards. With as many wonderful photos as I had to choose from, I could have made a dozen more. Here's a shot of the memory table and one of the boards I made. It was an honor to do this for the family.

Well, I must be shoving off. It's bible study day today, and I get to have lunch with a friend I haven't seen for a while. Lucky me. I might have a shred of good news for you later this week, so be sure and come back again. Perhaps things are starting to look up again. Keep your eyes on the Lord! He is faithful!
