Checking In

Merry Christmas!

I thought I'd check in with everyone this afternoon. Let you know we are all safe and sound here in Fairfax, VA.

We set out for our cross country road trip at about 6am last Sunday morning. We drove for about 12 hours until we arrived in Toledo, OH, about 730p that evening. Whew. It was treacherous getting out of MN and WI as it was FRIDGID. Both states had experienced a snow storm and below zero temps. The wind was whipping across the prairie upwards of 30 miles per hour. Trying to steady the car on the road was scarey! Once we got out of WI and headed into IL, road and weather conditions improved greatly, thank heavens. No matter where we were though temperatures were so cold!!! It wasn't until we got to VA that the temps warmed up into the 20's. Still, for this area, that's cold too!

On Tuesday and Wed, my husband and I did some shopping since we didn't bring many gifts with us. On Christmas Eve, we went to church for the 630p service and then came home for a dinner of meatballs and oyster stew (my hubby and his father are the only two that ate that). On Christmas we were back (we are staying at the home of my SIL's friend) to open up gifts. After a few hours of lounging around, most of us headed out to a movie. Doug and I saw Seven Pounds, which was a FABULOUS movie! Wow, it was so intense. If you haven't seen it already, I highly recommend it. It definitely is a tear-jerker. Even my hubby cried!

Today we took my two nephews shopping for some new clothes (they are 27 and 23). They are worse than shopping with girls, if you can believe it! They are very conservative, handsome young guys. So, of course, I tried to get them to step out of their comfort zone and buy some hipper clothes, but they wouldn't budge! We were all cranky by the time we left:)!

Tonight we are going out for dinner. We were going to go see the National Christmas Tree at the White House, but that got docked until tomorrow evening.

I've included two pictures to share with you. The photo above is my youngest son and my nephew's cocker spaniel, Moe. What an adorable dog! He's sooooo mellow and sweet. He and my son were having a stare down, it was so cute!!!

The second photo is of the cousins. I told them to strike their GQ pose for me on this shot! In order from left to right....my son Eric, my nephew Matthew, my son Scott, and on the far right is my oldest nephew Andrew. It's always so special to see these four together.

Well, I think I'll sign off for now. I can't wait to get back to my stamp room, I miss it! I've been blurfing every day making sure I don't miss anyone's blogs, but it just makes me homesick for my own craft room! I probably won't be posting again until after we return home. The plan is to get back on the road Sunday morning, with the hopes of arriving in Minneapolis by Monday evening.

Have a great night!

Holiday hugs,
Amy
