Greatness

Morning friends.

I made this card a few weeks ago for one of the SCS challenges (I can't believe I actually particiated in one...finally!). I think it was for VSN a few weeks ago. Anyways, the technique was called Brayer Batik. I have no idea if I did it right, but I sure love how it turned out!

I used a rainbow pad and my brayer for the effect. I inked up my brayer with the ink from the rainbow pad and then rolled it out onto a piece of watercolor paper. The I spritzed the paper with a water bottle. The colors ran beautifully. After it dried, I stamped the flower images with Versamark, and embossed the image with Ranger Distress Embossing Powder (in brown). I think you are supposed to do the technique the opposite of what I did it (emboss first, brayer second), but this way worked for me! The sentiment is from the set called Motivational Centers from CHF.

I want to thank everyone who responded to my post yesterday regarding my decision about BSF. Many of you sent me personal emails with wonderfully inspiring words. All of you, whether or not you left a comment here or sent a personal email, touched my heart. I'm glad that what I share here on my personal blog helps other people in their own walks. It's a nice reminder for me that even through our pain, we can touch people and make a difference.

On a separate note, I got a phone call from Deb yesterday about a part-time job. Deb is the mom of one of my son's friends (Griffin), but she also reads my blog. Apparently she read my blog yesterday morning, and was moved to call! My hubby told me she had left a very kind message about a possible job, but then deleted it before I had a chance to listen to it! Ack!!! Husbands. Deb, if you're reading this today, will you give me a call again? I have an appointment at 10a, but should be back a few hours after that. I will also check to see if we still have some school phone directories laying around here that your number might be in, so I'll try too, ok? I'm not sure things will work out, but oh, God is good!

Hugs,
Amy

  2. Beautiful card! I like that you did the background first! I saw your beautiful caramel apples yesterday, but I didn't read all the way to the bottom. It's actually really courageous of you to mention your struggles...and I'm glad you did...as I've been struggling...thank you for being so honest; it's comforting to know that I'm in good company.

  8. I missed your post yesterday!!! So glad to get the update on how things are going. AND I totally understand why you've decided not to lead a BSF class this year. We had 2 leaders step down this year for those same reasons. They are both students this year too. It's sad when women drop out completely because of difficulties because they still need to be studying God's word AND getting the support from praying women. God bless you - I can tell your heart is right & that's all that matters - He will bring that job when the time is right!

  9. What a beautiful example of this technique (regardless of the order of the steps)! I'm afraid my blog hopping has slowed down lately due to DT commitments (one of those has cut the required work in half so that should help greatly) and back-to-school (I homeschool my oldest DD) but I think things are finally settling down! I guess what I want to say is that I think of you often and you and your family remain in my prayers! Whether you BSF Leader or not, your life is certainly witness to the all importance of Christian faith. Thank you for that inspiration!
