Whew.
What a weekend. I'm thoroughly exhausted. It was a whirlwind from the get go Friday. Golf all day in the blazing sunshine (you already know I planted by butt on the couch the minute I got home). On Saturday morning I got a few hours of cleaning time in and then it was off to the pig roast.
Last night my girlfriend and I went to see Neil Diamond, and of course, it was fabulous. St. Paul was the kick-off of his 37 city tour this summer. His voice was amazing, having been on a few years tour rest. It was very different from his previous shows. He wasn't quite so flashy in dress (those of you who've seen Neil in concert know what I'm talkin' about), and was much mellower than normal. He sang about three of his new songs, a bunch of not-so-well-know old hits, and then of course, he sang a handful of his big, big hits like Cracklin' Rosie, Song, Song, Blue, America, and my personal favorite, Sweet Caroline (we went three rounds with that one!!!!). The crowd of 16,000 couldn't get enough of Sweet Caroline. It really must be overwhelming for Mr. Diamond to hear 16,000 people singing the lyrics of Sweet Caroline at the top of their lungs so he doesn't have to! Many times, he seemed blown away by the crowd. He's 67 and looks amazing! I could only hope I look that great when I'm 67. Frankly, I don't think I'd have the energy to get up on stage night after night and do what he does. I take my hat of to him!!! If he's coming to your city this summer and there are tickets still available, BUY THEM!!!! He puts on a GREAT show...you wouldn't be disappointed, I promise you that. I had another great time hangin' with Neil baby!
My girlfriend Sharon went with me last night, so she just stayed the night since she lives rather far from me and it was late by the time we got back to the house. Then we watched Hairspray (which, amazingly, she hadn't seen yet) and finally went to bed at 130am. I could only stretch sleep out this morning til about 745am. I made all of us breakfast (waffles, eggs and bacon), and then Sharon and I went to go see the new Mama Mia movie!!!!! If you love your girlfriends and treasure their presence in your life, then you've GOT to see this movie! It was SO FUN! Mind you, it's not a really deep, meaningful, powerful movie, but it's definitely a movie to lose yourself in this summer! The location alone where the movie was shot is worth going to see it (Greece!!!). The musical is an adaptation of the songs made famous by the singing group ABBA. Go see it with your girlfriends!
Well, I just decided to pop in a say hi. No cards today. I'll save that for tomorrow. I am now going to skootch on over to my stamping desk now and stamp! Yippee!!
Hugs,
Amy
