Your love is overwhelming me this week guys....where the heck is everyone? Traffic has been SLOOOOOW and basically non-existant here the past few days. Is everyone at CHA? Or is everyone as busy as me?????? Yikes, today is the first day all week I can take a breather of sorts. We are running ourselves ragged with "things". I think today is going to be a no-shower kind of day, unless we end up having a baseball playoff game tonight at the last minute (yes, you heard me correctly, we're still playing baseball....I so thought we were done!). Many of you know, there are some days when I just don't want to shower and get all prettied up....on those days I live in my sweats and baseball cap and am as happy as a clam doing it!
Boy, I sure wish I was going to CHA this summer! Aren't you insanely envious reading all the blogs of people that are heading to Chicago today? I am! Remember, I went last summer, and it was FABULOUS. Just being in the same air space with so many talented stampers/crafters is mind boggling. And the stuff. Oh my, the stuff. You just want to wrap yourself up in all the beautiful, beautiful stuff. Each booth and product is more fabulous than the next. I'm not kidding either! Ok, I'm going to stop talking about CHA cuz it just makes me feel worse that I'm not hopping in my car and driving to Chicago right now. So I'll change the subject.
Want to see a card I made last weekend? I actually got the idea for it from a card I saw on SCS, but I don't remember who's card it was. I wasn't planning on casing the idea so I didn't put it in my favorites, my bad. Actually, it was more the technique I cased, not the actual layout, so maybe I'm safe???? Anyways, if by chance you are one of the 5 people reading my blog today (remember, I said traffic and love is way down lately, LOL), and you recognize this card/technique as yours, please email me and let me know so I can give you the credit you deserve! (edited to note: I just found her card! I mistakenly thought the swirl stamp came from Carte Postale, but then I realized it is from Baroque Motifs. I went back over to SCS and did a gallery search under Baroque and that's when I found this card! Woo-hoo! A special thanks to ematson for her inspiration!!!)
Here are the fine details.....I first stamped the French Script background in black onto Whisper White cardstock. Then I stamped the Baroque Motifs swirl stamp in Versamark and embossed it in a creamy white. Then, I rubbed three different kinds of Ranger Distress Inks all over it....Frayed Burlap, Fired Brick, and Peeled Paint. The woman who made the card I saw on SCS put all of her distress inks on a craft sheet and then rubbed the cardstock on the craft sheet, but I do not have one of those. Her background was much smoother and cooler looking than mine turned out, but I still like mine. Anyways, the sentiment is from SU. I am really happy with how it turned out, so I know I'll be doing this techinque in the future!
Have a super day peeps! Stay cool if it's hot and muggy in your neck of the woods like it is in ours!
Hugs,
Amy

Gorgeous card! Feel the love baby - it's summer and vacation time and all.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card! Maybe I am one of your 5 readers but I KNOW you have more than that! I read you everyday but I am REALLY bad at posting a comment! SORRY!!!
ReplyDeleteStill checking in, Amy. Just crazy busy, here, too. Yes, it is muggy and hot in Ohio, also! That is a pretty card - love the sentiment and the ribbon tmt.
ReplyDeleteOk, I'll be the first today to "send some love". I love your bright colored cards - they are so happy! But today's card is a nice change of pace and I love it. I don't have the Baroque Motifs but will have to find something similar and try to copy this, it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, I'm here - just busy (but not too busy to read your blog every day!) This card is super! Colors are beautiful... love everything about it! I don't dare think about CHA, I could make myself really sad : )
ReplyDeleteWe're leaving to visit our son (4 hrs away) with our DD, SIL & grandson. DS is leading music at church this Sunday & our DD will play with him. God has blessed us with 2 great kids. Hope your day is filled with beautiful things!
Hi Amy! I'm here ... just realy frenzied with the little ones and the "busyness" of summer days. I don't get time to check in on my favorite art friends and thier blogs nearly as often as I'd like. Your card so gorgeous!! Love the colors and the swirls. That techinque is so fun; one of my personal favorites. Thanks for reminding me about it as it's been a while since I've done it.
ReplyDeleteSure hope you have a great day! Keep up the great art and the fab blog.
Very pretty card! I check your blog through google reader so I'm not sure if it shows up on your counter. I haven't had time to comment this week either, we've been super busy as well. But no fear... your readers are still here!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell at least 2 of us are not at CHA. I really enjoyed your card. Great colors.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Amy!!! Love the colors and the technique!
ReplyDeleteI'm here! This is really beautiful. I am going to give this technique a try.
ReplyDeleteI read you every day in Bloglines, so I'm not a "visible" reader. But I read. Love this card and the one you linked to!
ReplyDeleteThis is BEAUTIFUL!!! Seriously. I love the layout, the details and especially the colors. I will have to case it when my life returns to normal (whatever that is!) after moving cross-country and then going to Convention a week later. Uggh!!!
ReplyDeleteThat card is fabulous. So glad you told us the how to's.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! You truly have a God given talent.
ReplyDeleteLove your version of the card! The colors really pop.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link!
Hey - I'm still hangin' with you! You are not abandoned (not all of us are in Chicago!). Your card is very pretty. I love the "pop" of the white swirls!
ReplyDeleteJust summer running-around stuff..don't worry, we still love you. =)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a card I "didn't" like with that stamp (it's awesome!!), but I esp love the colors on yours...just lovely.
Amy - I love how this card turned out - will have to try that - I do have one of those craft sheets - but not the art and craft one - found one in the bakery dept for 1/2 the price and is the same thing.
ReplyDeletei know how it feels to wonder if anyone's out there, so i'll add my voice to the chorus and say that this card's very cool...love Baroque Motifs!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are ALWAYS so cheerful! Love them! I left a little something on my blog for you - thanks for being such as inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteHey Amy theres still time for us to jump in the car and head for Chicago!lol I would so love to be going also! It's always fun to try different techniques and your card is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteoops! i still love ya!! i haven't blurfed much lately but I sat down and caught up some last night!! Went through 24 posts on your blog! This card is gorgeous!! This technique sounds like one I demoed at my local ATC club this month - but I used those plastic report covers - you know the ones with the "spine" that slides on and off - and never seems to really stay on? Maybe one of those is lying around your house and would work!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous background! I hope I find time to try this technique.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love this card!!! So elegant and beautiful! Don't feel bad, I've had one comment the whole day today..... : ( You are right, traffic is waaaay down!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! Summer time is a busy time for many of us and I don't get to comment as much as I'd like, but I still visit every time you post. This card is exquisite! The colors are so vibrant and yet it still has a soft feel to the eye (that sounds weird but it's what I felt when I looked at it). ~chris
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!! I am definitely going to have to try this technique!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! Really gorgeous! And Amy, I haven't abandoned you, but I love reading blogs and was getting a bazillion emails, so I switched over to Google reader. I'm glad you have yours at full read, because sometimes I really don't have time to click on the link, so those that don't have a full read get left behind. I still leave comments, but not as often.
ReplyDeleteAmy, as soon as I saw your card I knew which one on SCS you were referring. I saw it and loved it. Here's the link: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/977318
ReplyDeleteLove yours too! Great colors!
Hi Amy. I too wish I could be at CHA again this year. Unfortunately the only thing preventing me from going was such a simple thing like "tickets". Beautiful card you created too.
ReplyDeleteAmy - Summer is definitely taking all my time :( This card is gorgeous! I think I will have to try this. Your talent amazes me :)
ReplyDeleteAnother non-CHA'er checking in. In fact, I've never gone! Oh the horror! Anyway, LOVE the card. It's so stylish!
ReplyDeleteAmy, your card is gorgeous! And I totally needed the sentiment today. I love your color combo, and although I love blues, like the original card, somehow the reds just really "pop" (gosh, I hate that word!) with this technique.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it with us! And, yes, I'm one of your "five" daily readers, just, as someone else said, not very good at leaving comments. Grace & peace to you today!
Hi Amy... I'm loven' your blog everyday! Great card! I'm going to try it next as I'm a stampin' fool this afternoon! Yeah!! Michelle :)
ReplyDeleteSee, there's some love left out there! I think lots of folks are on vacation. Sweet card, love the bg you made, thanks for sharing how!
