Crookedness and Perfectionists

Since I'm such a perfectionist, the fact that I just realized the main flower panel on this card is crooked is bugging me!

You didn't know I was a perfectionist? It's true. Everything has to be plum on my cards and if it isn't, I tear it apart and start over. Usually, it doesn't get very far before I catch the crookedness. So how in the heck did this one slip by me? Did someone sabotage it when I wasn't looking, LOL? See how there is more yellow polka dot paper on the right side than on the left, AND that it's glued on crookedly? So not cool. I know you're gonna leave me a comment saying you didn't even notice the crookedness until I said something. But literally, I just noticed it myself the minute my photo uploaded into Blogger. And I couldn't just ignore it. Especially since we all know now that I'm a perfectionist....

Oh well. The other thing I am is a big girl. So I'm gonna just put my big girl panties on and chalk this one up to a momentarily lapse of good judgement.

It sure is puurrrrty though, isn't it? The first thing I did was stamp the french script background on a piece of watercolor paper (in Old Olive). Then I stamped the main image (Morning Glory/SU!) with black Stazon. It's colored using my Copics (I know, I know, I shouldn't be using my Copics with watercolor paper, but I like to buck the rules once in a while). I outlined the flowers using a Stardsut Gel Pen. You can see the sparkle from the pen in the close up shot. The sentiment is from Stampabilities.

So yesterday....can I just tell you I really stunk it up again on the golf course? OMgosh. Seriously, I couldn't hit the ball for my life. I lost a bunch of balls, and I topped a lot of balls, which makes them travel, like only 20 feet in front of you (if you're lucky). The weather, once again, was sunny and HOT! I have never appreciated the end of an 18-hole round of golf more in my life than I did yesterday. The good news is none of us did very well!

I think today I am staying close to home. I have plans to get some cards made so I can send them along with my husband who is flying out to Fairfax, VA Thursday. He will be visiting his sister Jayne and BIL Ken (who's got lung cancer). Doug's dad will be going as well. So that will leave just me and Youngest Son home alone for a few days (can you say par---tay?????!!!!!). Just kidding. We have no plans to par-tay while they're gone. The extent of our partying MIGHT just be going to see a movie together!

Have a great day peeps!

Hugs,

Amy

  1. I too get real fussy about my cards. I hate when I am all set to sign a card, after I'm sure I have examined every inch, only to find an oops. For a while, I only did collage type to avoid frustration. I have been trying once again to do my version of cards like this one. Not ready to share yet but maybe soon:)

  2. Is this from the Flowers for Daisy set?
I looked and looked at the picture for the crookedness and didn't notice it until you pointed it out.
Remember Kurtis has mentioned the rules of third.
Anyway, can you edit your post to tell your readers what stamp set this is?
(Making a mental note not to send you cards because every single card I make has a flaw -- but I still make cards.)

  3. How irritating - I know just how you feel. I was all set to send a card to someone yesterday, then noticed something was not quite right - yes, it was crooked! How that slipped by me I don't know!

I know what you mean, I am the same way but I have to keep reminding myself - we see rainbows because of DUST and imperfections in the air.

Beauty comes from imperfections. Handmade, imperfect cards are love.

    Gorgeous card Amy, as always.

  5. Amy, Ease up on yourself.:) Anyone would be pleased as punch to receive this card. Easy for me to say as I am NOT a perfectionist.
(I see the focal point as the scripture not the flower.) The older we grow, the more I realize, life is HIS plan to teach us to love HIM first, and then ourselves and others ~ flaws and all. After all, if we were perfect, what could we learn from HIM?
    Blessings,
    Tina

  7. Oh yea, I get a little crooked now and then - I chalk it up to the fact that I have 2 little boys and I'm nearly 42 years old. Yea, too old to have a 6 and a 2 year old ... Ha Ha Ha!!!! Seriously, amy, ita beautiful card. I love it.

Well, the fact that you extended your sentiment out to the right of the flower panel makes more sense to have the flower panel more to the left. I think this looks better than having the flower centered and the sentiment extending to the right. Your accident makes it look more balanced to me.

  9. If it makes you feel any better, Amy, I would say the polka dot paper is printed crooked and you lined up your image with those dots. Soooo, even if you had lined it up with the sides of the card, it would still *look* crooked to you, because the dots are. KWIM? It's still beautiful.
