Must Buy Alert!!!

WARNING: If you don't have any money to buy some new stamps, DON'T READ THIS POST!!!!!

You heard me, turn away now while you've still got the gumption to turn away because after you see this new clear stamp set that I just bought from Stamper's Dream, you will want it!!!!! The minute I saw it on Michelle's blog, I knew I must have it, and the funny thing is, I don't even like coffee!!!! But buy it I did, and I'm so happy to have it in my hot little hands!

This amazing clear stamp set is called "Smell the Coffee" and it's by Impression Obsession. It's got 7 images/sentiments within the set and I {{heart}} it!

I took the brightest Copic markers I could find and colored in the image, which I had stamped on watercolor paper (very thin watercolor paper). I know you're not supposed to use Copics on watercolor paper because they suck up the color so quickly, but I didn't really find that to be true on the thinner paper. Aren't the colors vibrant? I combined the image with some designer paper by We Are Memory Keepers, and I'd say the colors are a perfect match!

Here's a closer look at the coffee cup image. I outlined the cup with my Stardust Gel Pen....

Well, it's time for me to get busy for the day. We pick Oldest Son up from camp tonight--it's been so quiet without him. I'm a little nervous about picking him up though because I need to talk to him about something I found while he was away at camp. Something on our computer. After I found it on our computer, I decided to look at his cell phone to check his text messages. I've never done that before without his knowledge, but a Mom's got to do what a Mom's got to do. We pay for the phone, so in our opinion, we have a right to keep tabs on what he is texting back and forth with his girlfriend. Most of what we found was very innocent, but there is one from his girlfriend that is questionable at best. She's a sweet girl, but from now on, Mom's radar is on high alert. I am deciding how to proceed with discipline. The phone might have to go away for awhile, or text messaging. I think it might be the latter. Text messaging is an evil thing if you ask me. Kids these days use it to get together, break up, harass each other, etc. Truely, what good does texting really bring to this world? Pray for us tonight when we talk with Oldest Son. I am praying for wisdom and discernment with how to approach so WWIII doesn't erupt, and so that he gets our message LOUD and CLEAR about appropriate behavior and living an authentic life. Be on the inside what you show on the outside. Teenagers. God help me

Hugs,
Amy

Edited to note: I just heard from Michelle over at Stamper's Dream....the Smell the Coffee stamp set is currently not in stock (see, everyone wants it:)), but should be back on the shelves in a few weeks!!!

  1. Great card! Too bad those stamps are out of stock. :-( They have been on order for almost two weeks, so they should be back in the store soon.

  3. Wow! Beautiful card!
Good luck talking with your son tonight. It is a very challenging thing. I have 2 teenage sons and have been through a lot of drama with girls and the cell phones. Just try and remember they are growing up and trying to find themselves too. I'll say a prayer for you that God gives you the right words of wisdom!

  4. Hi Amy! This is adorable! Is your dh still running the part time jig at the java house? I bet they could use a few sets of these!! :D

I'll pray about the convo with the kiddo for you. I found some things on Granny's ((my mom)) puter from my niece and nephew awhile back. Pretty sure they knew Granny wouldn't find it ~ they should have remembered Aunt Tina was comin' for a visit! It really is a different world. God Bless!

  5. Great card. I immediately went to the link in search of the stamp set before noticing your "edit". I'll try to be patient.
One thought regarding your son...its good you have a little time before discussing it with him. In fact, once he gets home from camp, he might be on that "camp high", particularly if it was a good one. Perhaps you should wait a little while before you say something so you don't shoot down those warm fuzzies one gets from camp. (Particularly if it was a good Bible camp.) But, before he SEES this girl again, I would have a gentle sit down and discuss what you expect from him. Remember the text was from her and perhaps he was a little uncomfortable himself. I'll be praying for the right words.

  8. Hi Amy - love the card and especially the bright colors! I also wanted to say that I hope that the talk with your son went well last night. I agree with you when you say a Mom has to do what a Mom has to do. My girls always knew that I would almost ALWAYS find out when they were doing something they weren't supposed to be doing. So many times, they were glad to be able to say, "No, I can't do that because my mom will find out and I'll get in trouble." They were grateful to make me the bad guy with their friends, and were also grateful that our boundaries saved them from getting into the kinds of serious trouble that their friends found themselves in without boundaries from their parents. I'm praying for you that all works out and that your son knows what you do is out of love and not out of a desire to control him. He'll thank you later, I promise.

  9. Love the card and those colours Wow you! Wouldn't want to be in your shoes tonight - my 17 year old niece's current expression to her Mum is that it is my life! Hope you can discuss the problems quietly.

That card is wonderful. Hope all goes well with your chat. You are doing the right thing to be the parent and help your son become an adult he can be proud of.
