It's time to give some of you that don't like pink and green a break! Instead of bright colors, I'll give you a a card with some subdued tones today.
This is a Father's Day card I made while on my stamping getaway a few weekends ago (see, I told you I was productive that weekend!).....the image is from SU and is called For Father. I colored it with my Copics. I stamped the image twice and then cut out the hammer and attached it to the main image with dimensional tape. It looks cooler IRL than it does here!
Nothing really special going on here. It's been a cloudy, icky week this week weather wise. Only in the low 40s and not a sliver of sun in the sky. These sorts of days are difficult. I think I would have trouble living in Seattle if the weather is like this all the time. Many people in climates like mine have SAD, or Seasonal Affective Disorder. The short days and long nights of fall and winter cause many people to seriously become depressed! My FIL suffers from this and this past winter got one of those light boxes that is supposed to really help with this problem. Read here if you want to know more about this disorder. Anyways, it's easy to feel down and out when the weather gets and stays like this for a long time, and I'm definitely feeling gloomy because of it! We need sun!!!
Well, I've got to run. I've got BSF again this morning. On a bad note, I just got the hiccups while writing this post, which doesn't bode well for the rest of the day. When I get them early in the day, I end up getting them for the rest of the day!!! NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And when I get the hiccups, I REALLY get the hiccups. It hurts after a while because the hiccups are viscious, I really, really hiccup HARD! I've had them for maybe 5 minutes now and I'm hurting already. It's time to go drink a glass of water upsidedown!!! Any other quick fixes for these awful things?
Hugs,
Amy

Getting ready to go to BSF too & attending the Homiletics Seminar afterwards. I've been to all of them at one time or another & I like this one, so I'll go again this year! I can sympathize with your hiccups - mine are very infrequent, but hard as well! I've found lying on the bed, with my shoulders & head hanging off gets rid of them. (why?... I don't know) could be that this stretches the muscles in the throat, etc. & eases the spasms. I hope it works for you!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the card! I'm awful at Masculine cards......perhaps because I don't have any masculine stamps....hmmmm. On to the hiccups---I hold my breath until I can't anymore and then I let it out VERY SLOWLY---you'll feel a flutter in your diaphram (singer here, sorry)and MOST of the time the hiccups are gone...hope it works for you!
ReplyDeleteBeen loving the cards you've posted lately. . .wish I was so inspired to build up my stash!!
ReplyDeleteMy hiccup remedy. . .get a spoonful of sugar and chew it. Sounds crazy but it works every time for me. My kids ask for the sugar too when they get the hiccups because they know it works. My husband won't even try it. Can't hurt!!
So glad you're blogging again too. While I don't post often, I do read your blog every day. And I grew up in MN and my in-laws still live there so I love hearing about what's going on up north!! I'm in TX now.
Have a wonderful day!!
Great card Amy! I love the crackle background. I thought spring was finally here, and then we woke up to snow. Bummer! Have a fabulous day!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I know, I know, it's a guy card, but it can still be beautiful, right?
ReplyDeleteLove your card, Amy! Try swallowing a spoonful of sugar - dry! Try not to let it soak in your mouth. Something about the granules going down helps. Let us know how you do!

I just saw someone on the The View the other telling showing home remedies that cure different maladies. She said to try a teaspoon for the hiccups. Years ago my husband had the hiccups for several days. The doctor gave him a muscle relaxant - the only problem was that my husband reacted to the shot and he was knocked for 2 days! And they gave him the lowest dose they could. When I called the doctor he started laughing and said, "But are his hiccups gone?" Anyway, try the sugar - it can't hurt.
ReplyDeleteHi! Love the card. For the hiccups I swallow a tablespoon full of peanut butter. Works every time!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any words of wisdom for hiccups, but I hope they are gone. I know they can be painful and frustrating. Loved todays card.I never seem to have any guy cards when I need one. The colors are great.I can't send you sun, but sending sunny thoughts your way.

ReplyDeleteI think you have to come to texas--definitely lots of sun here. You would love it!
What an AWESOME masculine card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous guys' card, Amy! You can do it all, girl!!
ReplyDeleteGreat guy card. I really like the crackle bg directly with this image.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your FIL suffers from SAD.
ReplyDeleteI have found that a lightbox helps me through the dark days of Autumn and Winter. It needs to be started early in the season for the best results, though.
Please say, "Hi!" to your FIL for me!
Lovely man's card, btw!
