Thank You

Here's my take on Jen's (I{heart}2stamp) Sketch For You To Try challenge from last Saturday. I struggled with this one a bit, my card seems so plain and boring! Just not enough going on in my opinion!

But, I love the colors! The thank you sentiment came from a tiny free stamp set I got from Archiver's a few weeks ago. The stamp set was free with a certain $ expenditure. It was one of the sets that Hero Arts makes exclusively for Archiver's. I actually can see myself using the stamps quite a bit. Who doesn't need a "thank you" sentiment?

The horizontal strips across the card are made with Pumpkin Pie cardstock. I stamped the little butterfly from the same set all the way across each strip. The thank you sentiment was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink and mounted on a scalloped punch that I sent through my CB first in the Swiss Dot folder. A few large rhinestones were placed on the end of two horizontal strips for a little pizazz! That's as crazy as this baby is going to get! LOL!

Thanks for all the nice comments of support yesterday. For those of you who were curious, Ken is a non-smoker, physically fit and only 54. I think his birthday is Friday! A little more insight....Ken served in Kuwait in the Gulf War. He was there in '91 when my oldest was born. There is some serious speculation that Ken's cancer may be environmentally triggered from the war. He lived and breathed air that was full of toxins from the oil fields burning the whole time he was there. He is having a biopsy done either today or tomorrow so we'll know a little more perhaps about the exact nature of the type of cancer he is suffering from after that.

I am physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausted after this crazy week. I think the past 6 months has finally caught up with me. I feel my throat getting sore, and I feel so tired. I woke up at 3am this morning, couldn't fall back asleep, so I got up at 415am and came downstairs and had some quiet time with God. He stilled my heart. I prayed for rest. God was good and allowed me to get two more hours of sleep right there on the couch snuggling with my little Copper. I am hoping to get a nap in later today. I have to be extra vigilant with my body when I start feeling like this. I don't want to get so overwhelmed I get sick, KWIM? It's beautiful weather here today (if you consider 40's beautiful:)....we hardcore Minnesotans think the 40's call for shorts and t-shirts! I saw flip-flops on a girl at church last night. Only in MN!!!

....the promise God gives me that I can cast all my cares upon Him because he cares about me! Look out God, here they come!

....the love and support of dear friends.

  1. A bit behind on blog reading so I just read you news. Please know that Ken and the rest of your family is in my thoughts and most importantly, in my prayers.

  2. I like that card, Amy!

I had to laugh when I read about that girl with flip-flops in church! Well, that could happen in Sweden as well, I guess that's why so many Swedes emigrated to MS! Similar climate! LOL!

I love the bright colors of this card. Take good care of yourself. Praying that the biopsy will show the docs the perfect way to treat Ken. We have some fab docs in this area(D.C. and Northern VA).

  7. hi there, just a new visitor here in your blog,.... just my 2 cents worth,...i just recently moved away from friends and settling in to oz,...but what kept me going were ppl visiting my blog - comments or no comments -- my resolve was -- its not what they leave in your blog, or what they say, or if they reading are everything -- its the silent prayers they say -- which has helped me along with my new life,..
i hope you get thru lifes ups and downs,.. sending a little note up to god for you to give you strength..

  8. Amy - I will miss your smiling face and wonderful attitude. Yes, sometimes, you're down, but then life is down sometimes too. If you can't confide in your friends, then they aren't really your friends.

Please know that most of us will miss you very much. I will picture you on Tahiti getting warm and healthy. Take your time. We will be here when you're ready.

God Bless you and your family

  9. Love the card and it is certainly not too simple! My hubby was there in 90-91 too and I worry about the air he breathed. And I am praying for your BIL
